Crossing the Pond
Dickens and Twain take the stage
September 12, 2006
A new show, conceived, compiled and edited by Professor of Theatre Todd Wronski was presented on Sept. 1 and 2 at Mathers Theatre in the Holland Union Building. The world premiere production of Dickens and Twain: Crossing the Pond came directly from its run at the Roxy Art House in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The play examines the "special relationship" between the United States and England using the 19th-century literary giants, Charles Dickens and Mark Twain. Directed by Anthony Frost, senior lecturer in drama at the University of East Anglia, England, this production is based on the writings and public speeches of Mark Twain and Charles Dickens. Wronski portrayed Twain and British actor Tom Watson performed in the role of Dickens.
