Ben Edwards' National Science Foundation-funded research expedition to study a recently erupted volcano in Kamchatka, Russia, is attracting global coverage. A video of the associate professor of earth sciences taking lava samples has been featured by Wired's science blog, The Telegraph, and The Washington Times.

The expedition is one of two trips Edwards will take this year to study heat transfer from lava to snow. The second trip is scheduled for August.
