September 25, 2012
As the campus community prepars to welcome hundreds of alumni, parents and family members for Homecoming & Family Weekend 2012, we wondered what attendees were most looking forward to. Whether this is their first homecoming as an alum or parent or they've been coming back for years, their perspectives offer a glimpse into what makes this weekend special.

"I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to Dickinson for homecoming weekend! As a recent graduate, I'm mostly coming back to see and catch up with friends still on campus and faculty and staff. This is the first year in as long as I remember that I have not gone back to school in some way. I'll still recognize a majority of students, having just graduated, and I don't quite feel like a full 'alumna' yet. Mostly, I'm coming back just to see the campus in the fall (my favorite season) and everyone still there that I miss!"

"I always love coming back to campus whether it's to see friends in shows, reunite with classmates at Alumni Weekend, or enjoy the beautiful early-fall weather in PA. I haven't been to a homecoming weekend since fall of 2009, so I'm excited to re-live some Dickinson memories. It's a lot of fun to see familiar faces, meet other alumni, catch up with professors and take advantage of the events on campus. It also provides a perfect opportunity to plan a visit with friends who may live far away.
I am most excited for the Fall Fest! If it's anything like Spring Fest, it should be a good time. I really hope the weather is nice! I will definitely have to visit the G-man and lose a game of pool or two. I also might force my friend who's going with me to attend a class on Friday, just for fun, or maybe drop in on an Infernos rehearsal to make sure they're still the best a cappella group on campus!"

"We are looking forward to returning to Dickinson for our first homecoming in a very long time! Since our daughter Mollie is a freshman this year, we are super excited to be able to come back. Not sure exactly what activities we will be attending, other than the president's breakfast on Sunday. We will probably go to the football game and I still have family in the area, so we will be visiting them as well. Mollie and some of her new friends have planned a picnic lunch so all of us parents can meet. I hope the weather cooperates! Oh, and Mollie has already requested a breakfast at Fay's! We can't wait to get back to campus!"

"I've been to nine homecoming weekends! It's a great weekend to see alumni, friends who are still students and/or live in Carlisle and catch up with my favorite professors. I've never been a runner but, after completing my first half-marathon this summer, I plan to do the Run for Steph 5k, which is in memory of Stephanie Kreiner ’03, who was killed by a drunk driver in October 2004. And I'll definitely have pizza from Miseno's and, of course, the customary trip to Sheetz!"

"This will only be my second time [returning for homecoming] since graduating in 1981. The first was freshman year for our son Bob III (class of 2012). We are most looking forward to hanging out, meeting Matt’s (class of 2016) friends, watching the game. Perhaps run into a few fellow alumni. I went to school with Albert Alley '81 and Val Alley '82. There are many other Alleys and Wises who also have graduated from Dickinson. Our fathers graduated class of '53 and remained friends. Our son Bob III and their daughter Megan are both class of '12. Now, our son Matthew and their daughter Madison are class of '16. Who knows about the next (fourth!) generation."
