Dickinson Senior Named Outstanding Student by FEI’s Central Pa. Chapter

March 6, 2009

Dickinson College senior Chandan Sapkota has received the Outstanding Student Award from the central Pennsylvania chapter of the Financial Executives International (FEI).

Sapkota, an economics major, will receive his award and a prize of $850 at a FEI Educator’s Night dinner March 24 at The Hershey Co. headquarters in Derry Twp.

Each year the FEI chapter gives the awards to students from eight area universities and colleges, including Dickinson. Sapkota was among 10 Dickinson students who applied for the award. FEI judges base their decision on the applicants’ grades, community service and leadership qualities. The awards are open to seniors majoring in economics, accounting or finance.

Sapkota worked as a business reporter for the Kathmandu Post in Nepal, his home country, before coming to Dickinson College, drawn by its comprehensive global education program. His goal is to return to Nepal and work for the betterment of economic conditions there.
