Fall Activities Night


Hoping to make your mark at Dickinson? That’s a breeze, thanks to Activities Night. Held at the beginning of each semester, the event informs students about the wide spectrum of cultural, social, academic, intramural athletics and special-interest opportunities on campus, allowing them to meet new friends with like interests, explore new worlds and make a difference on campus and beyond.

Representatives from approximately 80 of Dickinson's 130 student-led clubs and organizations set up shop in the Holland Union Building, where they handed out freebies and info sheets, answered questions, and sometimes, gave mini-performances and demonstrations. Most signed up several new club members on the spot. [Story continues below.]

Students attending the festival learned that they could take on a shift at the college radio station, grab a byline in an alternative newspaper, join club sports such as skiing or ultimate Frisbee, learn an assortment of dance styles or give back to the local, national and world communities, among many other opportunities. They could become a part of a long Dickinson history by joining Belles Lettres, the oldest literary society in North America, or The Dickinsonian, founded in 1872. Or they could learn about some of the newest clubs to be recognized by the Student Senate: The Paintball Club and Colleges Against Cancer.

“There are so many valuable opportunities that are afforded to Dickinsonians, and we encourage students to identify their passions and experience them to the fullest,” said Erica Gordon, assistant director of campus life.
