Spring Activities Night


What’s your passion? Chances are, there’s a Dickinson club that fires it. In fact, Dickinson boasts more than 130 student clubs and activities to address the wide spectrum of interests and cultures that reside in our diverse student population.

This is good news, since students who engage in cocurricular activities reap the benefits of new friendships, self-discovery, civic engagement and rich life experiences. But with so many clubs and activities to choose from, how do students choose the cocurriculars they'd like best?

Here's where Spring Activities Night comes in. Held January 25, this year's event offered students a chance to learn about more than 60 of the college’s student clubs and activities, including publications and multimedia clubs; arts organizations; club sports; honorary societies; sororities and fraternities; political, religious, and other special-interest groups; and community-service organizations. 

“There was a great turnout,” said Erica Gordon, assistant director of Campus Life and advisor of the Multi-Organizational Board (MOB), who estimates that several hundred students attended the event.

  • Members of the D-Tones welcome students with a penchant for performance. The oldest coed a cappella group on campus, the D-Tones perform a minimum of two concerts each year.

  • The Dance Theatre Group provides top-notch entertainment for the college and local community. The group also sponsors dance master classes, residencies and field trips.

  • Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed, national service fraternity. Students work to improve the campus and community and form lasting friendships along the way.

  • Dickinson offers many language-, religion- and culture-based groups to celebrate the diverse world cultures that make up the patchwork of the Dickinson population. These groups educate the Dickinson community while providing fellowship for members.   • Two Dickinson special-interest clubs celebrate the richness of the African and African-American cultures. Club Afrique shares the African heritage with the Dickinson community, and the African-American Society is a social and cultural organization that promotes and awareness and acceptance of that unique heritage.

  • The Dickinson Photography Club, also known as the Photo Club, provides a setting for student photographers to develop their skills and share their work.
