Sports Hall of Fame Inductions

hof_topThree athletes and an exceptional team were honored at the 2009 Hall of Fame Induction and Unveiling Ceremony. Begun in 1969, the ceremony honors alumni who have made outstanding contributions to Dickinson athletics, and who have brought honor, recognition, distinction and excellence to Dickinson College and its intercollegiate program.

The event was held during an especially exciting season for the Red Devil athletes. This fall marked the first time in Dickinson's history that five teams were ranked nationally.

This year's inductees are Lael E. Campbell '94, Benjamin S. Motter '98 and Jason P. Shoff '99. The 1988 Women's Volleyball Team also was honored.

campbellLael Campbell '94 holds the record for most career points (218) and most career goals (140) in lacrosse. He ranks second only to fellow Hall of Famer Don O’Neill ’58 in most points per season, with a high score of 70 in 1992. Campbell also finished his career first in single-season assists (33) and second in career assists (78). He holds the school record for most consecutive games with a goal scored (18 games over two seasons).

motterBenjamin Motter '98 was named Most Valuable Player in his fourth year at Dickinson, and with good reason. He graduated with a total of 22 school records in baseball, including best slugging percentage (.748) and 25 stolen bases.

shoffJason P. Shoff '99 knows how to overcome tough obstacles. This National Player of the Week nearly saw his final season at Dickinson cut short when he tore a tendon in his right hand during a game. After surgery, he finished the season in a cast, leading the team with 11.5 sacks. And, with 89 tackles, he was second on the squad.

Dickinson's 1988 women's volleyball team, which included no seniors, swept the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and posted a 30-8 overall record. Team Captain Meg Losty ’90 was named to the MAC Southwest All-Conference team and was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-East Region team. Her teammates were: Anne Gage Carter '92, Rachel Isenberg Stoner '91, Stephanie Koeppen Hoffman '91, Anne Gravel '91, Michelle Swart Smith '90, Kristin Kelly '92, Doreen Brown Boschwitz '92, Heather Lingenfelter Ditillo '92 and Ashley McDonald Meeks '92.
