Run for Steph

The sixth-annual Run for Steph was held on Sunday of Homecoming & Family Weekend. Each year, the 5K run/two-mile walk is held in memory of Stephanie Kreiner '03, who was killed by a drunken driver in October, 2004.

This year, 377 participants raised nearly $6,000 to benefit the Dickinson College McAndrews Fund for Athletics, exceeding last year's record-breaking participation rate of 215 runners and $4,000 funds raised.

"Run for Steph gives the Dickinson community an opportunity to celebrate the life of a Dickinsonian who was tragically lost to us well before her time,” said Karen Neely Faryniak '86, associate vice president for enrollment & communications. “It allows her legacy to continue on campus while at the same time raising awareness of how important it is to make good decisions.”

The event was hosted by the Office of Communications, in collaboration with the campus groups and department that Kreiner was involved with while at Dickinson: the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, the women’s field hockey and lacrosse teams and the biology department. As in past years, members of these campus organizations joined together to plan and run the event.

The fastest runner was Mike Tarkoff '11, a member of the Suite 11 for Dylan team, who clocked in at 17:05. Teammate Sean Galiczynski '12 was just seconds behind, at 17:09.
