College Farm Tours
The threat of high winds didn't dissuade families and alumni from touring the Dickinson College Farm. They were rewarded for their fortitude with an interesting afternoon.
Located six miles from campus, the farm produces vegetables, fruits and other crops that are cultivated by college student interns and volunteers. It is entering its third growing season without the use of pesticides or synthetic chemicals and will soon be considered for certified-organic status.
Tourgoers learned about the farm's solar-electric systems, traipsed across scenic fields, warmed up in the greenhouses, admired herbs and produce on the vine and peeked inside the farm interns' yurts. They even spied an animal or two.
