Dickinsonians regularly earn prestigious grants and scholarships, conduct research, work around the world and enter esteemed graduate programs. And, at a time of economic uncertainty, our seniors and alums are securing desirable positions on Wall Street, Main Street and beyond. They’re entering the growing fields of environmental science, finance, education, the arts, international business, peace advocacy and more.
Here are just a few of the accomplished Dickinsonians who plan to attend graduate or professional school.
Abigail Adams '11
Abigail Adams '11Abigail Adams ’11, a political science major from Guilford, CT., has been accepted at The George Washington University Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration where she will pursue a Master of Public Administration degree in federal government, politics and policy. Her post-graduate plans include a summer internship with U.S. Senator Bob Casey.

Robert Allaway '11Robert Allaway ’11, a biology and chemistry double major from Darnestown, Md., has been accepted into Dartmouth College’s Ph.D. Program in Experimental and Molecular Medicine (PEMM) - Cancer Biology and Pharmacology.
Cara Applestein '11
Cara Applestein '11Cara Applestein ’11, an environmental science major from North Bethesda, Md., has been accepted into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a summer internship as a seasonal ranger/forester. In the fall, Applestein will attend the University of Montana where she will pursue a graduate degree in international conservation and development.

Jarrod Bouchard '11Jarrod Bouchard ’11, a political science and French double major from Winterport, Maine, has been accepted into The Elliott School for International Affairs at The George Washington University, where he will pursue a Master of Arts in international affairs.

Sara Boyer '11 Sara Boyer ’11, a neuroscience major from Bethlehem, Pa., has been accepted at West Chester University. She will pursue a master’s degree in public health. Sarah Buonacore ’11
Sarah Buonacore ’11Sarah Buonacore ’11, a history major from Metuchen, N.J, has been accepted at New York University's Graduate School of Arts and Science, where she will pursue a degree in museum studies.
Kristianne "Kacee" Cooke '11
Kristianne "Kacee" Cooke '11Kristianne “Kacee” Cooke ’11, an English and theatre arts double major has been accepted at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she will pursue a master’s degree in English.
Nicole Garubo ’11
Nicole Garubo ’11Nicole Garubo ’11, a political science and religion major from Millington, N.J, has been accepted at the London School of Economics and Political Science in London, where she will pursue a degree in international relations.
Allyson Glazier '11
Allyson Glazier '11Allyson Glazier ’11, an English major from Thornton, Pa., has been accepted at the University of Pittsburgh where she will pursue a degree in library and information science with a concentration in archives preservation and management. She also will participate in the Pitt Partners Program, working at the University of Pittsburgh Archives Service Center.
Allyson will spend the summer as a program assistant at the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy in Poultney, Vt., a month-long intensive foreign language academy/camp for high-school age students.

Erica Hartz '11Erica Hartz ’11, a chemistry major from Pittsburgh, Pa., has been accepted at Northwestern University, where she will pursue a graduate degree in theoretical chemistry.
Kelly Heuser '11
Kelly Heuser '11Kelly Heuser ’11, an international studies and Russian double major, from North Granby, Conn., has been accepted at the Western New England College School of Law. Heuser received a full tuition scholarship, the Oliver Wendell Holmes Scholarship, to attend. This summer she will intern with the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office.

Andrea Hoffmann '11Andrea Hoffmann ’11, and international business and management major from Olney, Md., has been accepted into Northeastern University’s business & accounting master’s degree program.
Tianchen Kai '11
Tianchen Kai '11Tianchen Kai ’11, a history major from Shanghai, China, has been accepted at the Emory University School of Law.
Tanya Kovacheva '11
Tanya Kovacheva '11Tanya Kovacheva ’11, an international business & management and economics double major from Sofia, Bulgaria, has been awarded the Huygens Scholarship Programme. The highly competitive, prestigious scholarship expects to accept only 150 candidates out of 1,700 applications. Awarded to students who wish to further their studies in the Netherlands, the scholarship will cover tuition and living expenses while Kovacheva attends the Amsterdam Business School at the University of Amsterdam where she will pursue a master in international finance.

Jessica Madrigal '11Jessica Madrigal ’11, a Spanish major from Leola, Pa., will pursue a master of arts in Spanish at Millersville University. Madrigal’s ultimate goal is to teach high-school Spanish.

Jeffrey Majarian '11Jeffrey Majarian ’11, a history major from Kennett Square, Pa., has been accepted at The Ohio State University’s School of Educational Policy and Leadership, where he will pursue a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs.
Lachezar Manaziev '11
Lachezar Manaziev '11Lachezar Manasiev ’11, an international studies and history double major from Sofia, Bulgaria, has been accepted at The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of The Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. As part of the SAIS program, he will spend 2011-2012 in Bologna, Italy, and 2012-2013 in Washington D.C, pursuing a master’s degree in international relations.
Matthew Melchiorre '11
Matthew Melchiorre '11Matthew Melchiorre ’11, a political science major from Lancaster, Pa., has been accepted into The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C., where he will study international economics and international relations. His two-year M.A. program includes one-year of study in Bologna, Italy and a second year in Washington. Melchiorre will spend his post-graduate summer as a research associate at Washington-based Competitive Enterprise Institute, a nonprofit public policy organization dedicated to the principles of free
enterprise and limited government.

Megan Paqua '11Megan Paqua ’11, an archaeology major from Norwalk, CT, has been accepted at the American University in Cairo, where she will pursue a master of arts in Egyptology & Coptology.

Andrew Ringwood '11Andrew Ringwood ’11, an international business & management and East Asian studies double major from Annapolis, Md., has been accepted at the American University Washington College of Law.
Michelle Sánchez ’11
Michelle Sánchez ’11 Michelle Sánchez ’11 has been admitted to the Lynch School of Education at Boston College in pursuit of an M.Ed. in Secondary Education in History. She was also notified that she’s been selected as a 2011-2012 Charles F. Donovan, S.J. Urban Teaching Scholar. Each year only a small group of students, all sharing a commitment to teaching and learning in urban schools, are invited to become Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars. While at Boston College, she plans to seek initial licensure and a certificate for Teaching English Language Learners (TELL). She will be the first in her family to pursue a Masters.

Laura Takakjy '11Laura Takakjy ’11, a classical studies major from Philadelphia, Pa., has been accepted at the University of Texas at Austin, where she will pursue a Ph.D. in classics.

Thanh To '11Thanh To ’11, a mathematics and economics double major from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, has been accepted to Clemson University where she will pursue a Ph.D. in mathematics with a concentration in operations research.
Russell Toris ’11
Russell Toris ’11Russell Toris ’11, a computer science major from Wilton, CT, has been accepted to Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he will pursue a Ph.D. in computer science with a focus in artificial itelligence and robotics.
