Peter Domyanov ’02 had such a fantastic experience at Dickinson College that when he returned home to Bulgaria raving about it, he convinced Petar Gitsoaika ’06 that it was worth researching. Before long, Gitsoaika was sending in his application Early Decision.

“I was totally comfortable with such a commitment,” he says. “I liked the school, and Early Decision gives you an early answer and, in my case, a very happy winter break senior year of high school—one with no worries about the future.”

Gitsoaika noted other reasons why he enrolled: “Because it is a top-50 liberal-arts college, the international business major is not present in many other colleges, and because of the great opportunities to study languages and study abroad.”

An international business & management and French double major with a minor in economics, Gitsoaika recalls submitting his TOEFL, two different SAT I scores, and several SAT II exams including writing, math and German. He found the process to be stress-free and did not encounter any problems along the way.

According to Giulia Rinaldis ’97, Gitsoaika has been an asset to Dickinson. “Not only has Petar been a Dickinson Ambassador helping me prepare for my first visit to Sofia, Bulgaria, and returning to his school over breaks, but his parents are Dickinson Ambassadors as well.”

Gitsoaika has been enjoying his time at Dickinson in many ways, on campus and off. One noteworthy experience was spending his junior year with the Dickinson program in Toulouse, France. But his favorite experiences have occurred on campus—“long lunches or dinners with friends in the dining hall.”

What advice does Gitsoaika have for prospective international students? “Make sure you understand what ‘liberal arts’ really means,” he says. “Dickinson is really good at making it useful, especially through its study-abroad programs.”
