Word of mouth first brought Hristo Banov ’08 of Bulgaria to Dickinson College. After exploring his options, Banov determined that Dickinson was the ideal American college for him. He applied Early Decision.

“Dickinson was my first choice for several reasons: the 3-3 law program, the dance program and the welcoming attitude of all the admissions officers,” he says.

When Banov had some difficulties completing his financial-aid forms, “I asked the Office of International Admissions about everything,” he says. Together, they worked through the problems, and Banov completed his application.

Now in his second year at Dickinson, Banov is double majoring in theatre and dance, and international studies. He also participates in many extracurricular activities on campus, such as the Dance Theatre Group and the Ping-Pong Club, and was a member of the 2005 first-year orientation committee.

“Hristo has been an enthusiastic ambassador for Dickinson, always returning home to help students learn more about the college and the U.S. application and admissions process,” says Giulia Rinaldis ’97, assistant director of international admissions.

For international students thinking about Dickinson, Banov advises, “Don’t be shy to ask any sorts of questions about the application process. Be yourself while writing the application essays. And finally, do not panic about the application and exams.”
