Jordan Peters ’14

Employer: U.S. Army

Jordan, a member of the Dickinson Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Blue Mountain Battalion, will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and join the Army’s Armor Branch, which is responsible for  tank and cavalry/forward reconnaissance operations on the battlefield. As an officer, Jordan will provide leadership in combat operations, working specifically with tank or cavalry units.

What is Jordan most anticipating about his post-graduation plans?

“After walking out the front doors of Old West, I most anticipate spending my summer with friends and family before beginning my career as an Army Officer,” he says. “After fulfilling my active-duty requirement, I look forward to transitioning to the Army Reserves and continuing my education.”

Adam Berman ’14

Employer: Epic

Adam has accepted a position in the technical services division of Epic, the largest medical software provider in the U.S. The company is based in Verona, Wis. Adam will help individual clients utilize Epic software and help customize specific elements of the software to fit client needs.

How has Dickinson prepared Adam for Life Beyond the Limestone?

“My Dickinson education has taught me to connect ideas and to push myself to learn more. In every one of my classes, I was encouraged to bring outside ideas and go beyond the basic subject.  This has helped me in searching for a job that requires seeing the world as multi-dimensional and in pursuing a career in technology product development,” says Adam.  “This way of seeing the world will help me to lead teams of people with diverse skills and outlooks.”

Michael will be working in IT consulting at Fortitude Systems, a technical-staffing firm. He’ll be based in Washington, D.C.

Adam has accepted a position as a political mobilizing officer with Minnesota Senator Al Franken’s reelection campaign. Adam will manage and organize the senator’s presence at events leading up to the November election.

Leah will complete a year of service with the Americorps City Year program, which is dedicated to reducing high-school dropout rates in low-income, inner-city areas around the country. As a City Year corps member, Leah will work one-on-one with elementary-, middle- or high-school students in one of Boston’s public schools. “The best moments were definitely abroad in Bologna. The people I met and the experiences I had are memories that will last forever,” says Jennifer.

“I am glad I received a liberal-arts education. It improved my writing skills,” says Chikako. “Living four years in a residence hall and staying with classmates made me feel at home.”

Emily, whose commitment to and leadership in sustainability met the rigorous standards to become a 2014 Baird Sustainability Fellow, will be a farm apprentice at Dickinson’s 50-acre USDA certified-organic College Farm. As an apprentice, Emily will be responsible for general farm work as well as livestock management and market sales. She also will manage the farm’s student workers.

What are you most anticipating about your post-graduation plans?

“The Dickinson College Farm had a huge influence on my experience at Dickinson,” says Emily. “My values, interests and career path will largely result from my time there. After working part-time at the farm for seven semesters, I am extremely excited and grateful to join three of my coworkers and fellow graduates on the farm full-time to experience an entire farming season.”

Will, who serves as Student Senate president, has accepted a position at My Dash Unlimited LLC as a business analyst. The New York City-based company, owned and formed by alumna Amy Nauiokas ’94, specializes in venture capital, media and movie production. Will describes his Dickinson experience as one “aimed at developing a quality of mind more than a certain set of skills,” and as being central to opportunities such as conducting a semester-long independent study with Provost Neil Weissman and interning in politics, film, venture capital and philanthropy.

Peter has accepted a position as the immersion assistant for DIS’s office of housing and student affairs. He will be located in Copenhagen, Denmark. Peter's main tasks will involve coordinating the housing and student affairs department at DIS, including hosting social programs, being the point person between senior staff and students and advising students studying in Denmark for the year. Peter will be drawing on the event planning, office management, communication and student advising skills he has honed during his three-and-a-half years as an employee of Dickinson's Offices of LGBTQ Services and Diversity Initiatives.
