Reserving Rooms

Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Exceptions are made to accommodate guests with special needs and to maximize the number of alumni we can house. We cannot guarantee that requests for specific housing or roommates will be met.

Tips for reserving specific rooms:

  1. Register early! Although the college will accept roommate, room and suite requests throughout the registration period--and although staff members do their best to accommodate all of these requests--early registration by all members of your group will give provide your best chance at having your accommodations met.
  2. Everyone in your group MUST register and pay for a bed before the group is assigned a room.
  3. Room/suite assignments are not final until you check in for Alumni Weekend.

Beds

Registrants who need housing must register for a single bed for each person staying on campus during Alumni Weekend. To comply with fire codes, the number of occupants in each residential space cannot exceed the number of beds within each building. Portable cribs or pack-n-play-type beds for children are permitted, though not provided, in college housing.

Linens

All linens provided for the weekend are the property of the college. All towels, sheets, blankets, pillows, etc., should remain in the rooms following the weekend. Guests will be charged for any linens not returned.

Responsibilities

Housing is provided to alumni and their guests in clean condition and good repair. As good stewards of your alma mater, we expect that it will be returned to the college in the same condition, normal wear and tear excepted. If the housing you are provided becomes damaged or excessively dirty during your stay, all occupants registered for the space will be financially responsible for the costs to repair and/or clean the housing provided. No smoking is permitted in the residence halls. Smoking in the residence halls will result in a penalty fee.

Expectations

Dickinson’s residence halls are functional but offer minimal amenities. These spaces have been designed to fit the needs of full-time college students who provide many of their own personal items. Dickinson will provide basic bed linens, a towel, washcloth, pillow and blanket, but these items are not replenished daily. If you have specific bedding needs, you may wish to supplement with your own items. If you desire other amenities such as lamps, nightlights, coat hangers, tissues, toiletries, hair dryers, irons or wastebaskets, please bring them with you.

Many beds in our residence halls are lofted to a height of 34–40 inches from the ground. We cannot guarantee that any bed will be of a standard height, and we are unable to change bed heights during Alumni Weekend. A limited number of folding step stools will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

We do our best to accommodate special requests, but we cannot guarantee that every request will be granted. Shared bathrooms will be designated for men and women. Gender-neutral bathrooms are available on request.

Every effort is made to house guests with their classes or with the requested groups. Class and affinity lounges will be stocked with a variety of snacks and drinks for those celebrating milestone years.
