Dickinson College Biking
Dickinson Red Bikes
Dickinson College Department of Public Safety administers the College Red Bike Program, which supports the College’s sustainability efforts. The red bikes and equipment are for the use of Dickinson College students, their visiting family members and Dickinson College faculty and staff and their family members. Family members of students, faculty or staff requesting use of a bicycle must be at least 18 years of age.
Review the Red Bike Program (PDF) for additional information on the program, bicycle locations and how to sign out a bike.
Dickinson Green Bikes
The Green Bikes Program, coordinated by The Center for Sustainability Education, lends bikes for a semester. Green bikes are rebuilt by volunteers with donated parts in The Handlebar, a volunteer run bike shop that opened in 2012.
Additional information about The Green Bikes Program can be found on the Biking @ Dickinson blog.
The Handlebar also provides space, technical assistance and a swap-shop for students and employees to maintain, repair and rebuild bikes. Biking@dickinson, an active listserv, is used to share information about biking in the region and to organize rides (e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to subscribe).
