Open nearly round-the-clock during the academic year, the third floor of the Weiss Center houses seven practice rooms, each with a piano, for the use of all students regardless of major or enrollment. The building is accessible with the use of Dickinson ID card after the doors are locked for the night. An eighth practice room is reserved for students of double bass and advanced piano. Piano students enjoy priority of access to rooms with grand pianos.
In addition, specialized rooms in this area (known as “Terpsichore” and “Orpheus”) house MIDI-based computer and synthesizer equipment for use by composition students.
There are also a few practice rooms available in South College (the building south of Weiss Center). Please note that practicing in SC is allowed after 4:30 pm on weekdays and any time during the weekend. Please ask your course or studio teachers for the entry code.
