Abigail Fisler, Environmental Studies and Italian Studies Majors

Abigail Fisler '17

Abbey Fisler is an Environmental Studies and Italian Studies double major from Palos Verdes Estates, California. She is specifically interested in renewable and sustainable energy with an international focus. In 2015, she interned with California Ethanol and Power (CE+P), who is developing a large-scale plant that will produce sugarcane ethanol in California and electricity from the agricultural waste of the process. After her semester abroad in Bologna during her Junior year, she was able to return to Italy in the summer to intern for Biochemtex, an Italian company that aims to produce cellulosic ethanol and bio-based chemicals from non-food biomass sources. She was also given the unique opportunity to attend the 31st Fuel Ethanol Workshop while interning for CE+P and later won the scholarship to attend the 21st National Ethanol Conference.

After graduation, she hopes to work in the renewable and sustainable energy field or in energy policy because she is interested in making a positive impact on the environment. She also ultimately plans to work globally due to her affinity for foreign languages and cultures. She looks forward to the opportunity to engage with other sustainably focused scholars and discuss important environmental issues using multiple perspectives.
