The President’s Commission for Women, Gender, and Sexuality was established to ensure and publicize Dickinson’s commitment to gender equity in the classroom, on campus, in the broader community. It seeks to promote conversations about issues relating to gender and sexuality among students, faculty, administrators, and staff.

The Commission has launched several working groups, including a gender-climate study group; campus health & safety group; salaries, promotions and gender-equity group; and a women’s center group. Its work has resulted in:

  • A renewed focus on gender climate in the Dickinson campus community
  • The elevation of the Women’s Studies certificate program to a Women’s & Gender Studies department and major
  • The creation of Dickinson's Women’s and Gender Resource Center.
