Plasma Laboratory
Presently, research in our Plasma Laboratory focuses on an investigation of the behavior of filamentary currents as they propagate through a uniform and quiescent background plasma. The plasma is generated in a 1.4 m long device that is surrounded by 14 magnets capable of producing a magnetic field of up to 3 kiloGauss. The plasma source is a barium oxide coated cathode designed here at Dickinson.
