At Dickinson, we prepare our graduates to thrive with skills that are most useful in the world, from global education to programs such as Sustainability Studies and Security Studies, students are prepared with a "21st Century Skill Set,"–teaching students how to think.

With the First in America: Building Our Tomorrow campaign, we will enhance our ability to teach critical skills with a $20 million new investment in Dickinson’s renowned academic experience in areas such as endowed professorships, student-faculty research, and curriculum development including continued innovation in programs that address emerging contemporary issues and the melding of international and sustainability initiatives to create a "global sustainability" dimension unique among American colleges and universities.

Academic Excellence: Faculty Development Opportunities 

 

Center for Excellence in Global Education or Sustainability Education: Supports one of Dickinson's premier curricular initiatives nd helps to define the distinctiveness of a Dickinson education.|

International Program Center Endowment: Supports staffing and program operations for one of Dickinson's 15 international academic centers.

Faculty Positions: Supports salary and benefits for faculty and leadership holding key teaching and academic program positions:

  • Endowed Faculty Chair
  • Directorships for Clarke Forum
  • Community Studies Center
  • The Center for Sustainability Education

Program Directorships: Supports the salary and benefits for a director, either of an international program or for the ALLARM (Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring) program.

Program Funds: Supports the annual program needs of these key Dickinson programs:

  • ALLARM Program Fund
  • Center for Sustainability Education Fund
  • Clarke Forum Program Fund
  • Community Studies Center Fund
  • Organic Farm Fund

Fieldwork Funds: Provides resources to enhance this distinctive curricular approach:

  • International Fieldwork Program
  • Community Fieldwork Program 

Faculty Support Funds: Supports key faculty needs:

  • Faculty Sabbatical or Research Fund
  • Curriculum Innovation Fund
  • Faculty Summer Research Fund

Student-Faculty Research Fund (department or discipline specific): Provides support for a collaborative student-faculty research team investigating a question in a specific discipline or department

Faculty or Program Equipment Fund

Student-Faculty Research Fund (general): Enhances funding supporting collaborative student-faculty research teams for an eight-to 10-week project, generally in the summer.

Academic Equipment Support: Allows Dickinson to meet one of the college's top priorities for academic, technology or sustainability related equipment needs during the academic year.

Student-Faculty Research Award: Support for a student-faculty research team(s) working on a collaborative summer project to investigate a question or problem in a specific discipline.
