2016 Fall Forum

Each year, KDP sponsors the Fall Forum, a venue to raise awareness and promote discussion about contemporary issues in American education. In previous years, KDP has hosted authors Shayla Reese Griffith, Leigh Patel, and Jonathan Kozol, among others. This year KDP invites Dr. Michael Sadowski as our guest speaker.  A former high school teacher and gay-straight alliance mentor, Dr. Sadowski has also worked on the Massachusetts Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, The Harvard Education Letter, and he has most recently authored the book Safe is Not Enough: Better Schools for LGBTQ Students.  This timely book identifies the policies and practices that educators can develop in order to create an inclusive classroom environment for students of all orientations and sexualities.  Following Dr. Sadowski's lecture on LGBTQ issues in schools today, there will be a Question and Answer session, a book signing, and a reception during which attendees can speak with him individually.
