What is the Annual Fund?
Global. Useful. Engaged. We all know a distinctive Dickinson education is all of these things and more. But did you know tuition only pays for 70 percent of the annual cost of educating a Dickinsonian. The remaining funds are supplied by Dickinson’s incredibly generous alumni, parents, employees and friends. Without their sustained efforts, the College would not be what it is today.
Gifts to the Dickinson Annual Fund help keep tuition and fees as low as possible, bridging the gap between the actual costs and what is passed along to students each year. Each full-pay student receives a “silent scholarship” of $13,000 a year and students on financial aid receive much more. Last year alone, the Dickinson Annual Fund brought in more than $3,500,000.
Gifts to the Dickinson Annual Fund also supports academic programming, faculty endowments, student programming such as clubs and athletics, and the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities.
The Senior Class Gift Drive
The Senior Class Gift Drive is a student-led initiative that marks the transitional period between being students and becoming alumni. For four years you have benefited from the generosity of the people that came before. The Gift Drive is an effort to recognize that support and begin a lifetime connection with the college that will allow future generations of Dickinsonians the same advantages that you enjoyed (and more).
The Gift Drive is not about each student giving $10,000 (unless you want to). Instead, it’s about the collective impact of all seniors working together. Last year, gifts of less than $100 resulted in a total of more than $120,000.
No one made it this far alone. Someone you never met helped you. Say “Thank You” by helping someone you may never meet. Give your gift today.
The Thank-A-Thon
The Dickinson Thank-A-Thon is an annual event held to give current students an opportunity to thank some of their many benefactors. All students are invited to drop in and write “Thank You” notes to our alumni, parent, and friend donors who have impacted their Dickinson experience.
This year, the Thank-A-Thon took place over two days in the week prior to Thanksgiving. Students stopped by the HUB social hall with friends over lunch or dinner and collectively wrote notes to approximately 400 donors who made their gift during the fall semester.
