Guided tour and animation workshop at The Walt Disney Family Museum in The Presidio.
We’ll start with a private Guided Storytelling Tour of the museum, then Antonia Valdes Dapena-Tretter ’04 will lead us in an animation workshop. In the one-hour workshop, you will learn how Walt Disney’s 1937 innovation in animation, the multiplane camera, introduced depth of field into movies such as Snow White (1937) and Pinocchio (1940). Using a mini-multiplane camera, you will be able to “bring to life” the paper cut-out characters and backgrounds you make through stop-motion animation. You will receive a copy of the short animation clip that you created! Space is limited. Registrations and cancellations accepted through September 20.
