"Transprejudice: How beliefs about gender differences relate to prejudice against transwomen"

Previous research has identified several attitudes that relate to prejudice against trans women, such as sexism and homophobia. In this research study, we explored attitudinal predictors of transprejudice, as well as an additional construct not studied before in this context—people’s beliefs about the nature of gender differences (being due to either the essential nature of men and women or to differential gender socialization). Our findings ultimately suggest that reducing transprejudice requires attention to both attitudes and beliefs about the nature of gender differences. Lunch is provided. Please rsvp.
