Dickinson on the Move - Highlights of the Month
Last month's Alumni E-News focused on Dickinson's commitment to environmental sustainability. On Oct. 24, the Sustainable Endowments Institute issued its annual College Sustainability Report Card and Dickinson, with an "A" in five of the survey's eight categories, was singled out as a campus sustainability leader.
Dean Neil Weissman noted that the report does not assess academic programming on the environment and sustainability, an area in which Dickinson has had a strong focus for several decades. "We also should be held accountable for what we teach our students," Weissman said. The Luce Semester, a watershed-based field semester, provides a single interdisciplinary, integrated course for the equivalent of a student's normal four-course load. The class is traveling to coastal Louisiana in November and recording its experience with photos and blog entries.
