James M. Hoefler, Ph.D. is Professor of Political Science and coordinator of the Policy Studies program at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, where he has taught courses on American politics and public policy since joining the faculty there in 1989. Professor Hoefler has authored a number of articles and two books on end-of-life decision making:
Professor Hoefler serves on the biomedical ethics committee at the Carlisle Regional Medical Center and also at the Keystone Human Services Corporation in Harrisburg, PA. He teaches an interdisciplinary course called "Managing Death" at Dickinson College and has made numerous presentations of his research on television and radio, before groups of health care professionals, church and community organizations, and for students at the high school, college, and law school level.
