Sexual Assault

Dickinson College recognizes the serious problem of sexual misconduct in our society and on college campuses. The college is committed to educating students to prevent such acts and assisting victims of sexual misconduct. The safety and well-being of victims is our primary concern. We will do all that is necessary and possible to insure the safety of Dickinson students when a violation has occurred. Our support to victims allows them to determine pace and timing as they exercise all of their options and make use of all available resources.

All first-year students are required to attend a program on sexual assault prevention. This program focuses on reducing the risk of acquaintance sexual assault by promoting an understanding of consensual and healthy sexual relationships, and helping men and women learn to avoid situations that may lead to sexual assault. The sexual assault prevention education program is available to be presented to other groups on campus; to request the program, contact Dr. Linda Chalk or Dr. John-Paul Checkett at x1485. Dickinson encourages students who have experienced a sexual assault to seek support from campus resources, including the Counseling Center and the Health Center. Information about reporting a sexual assault is available through the office of the Dean of Students at x1676.
