Alcohol Education Committee
The Alcohol Education Committee is a multidisciplinary task force which seeks to promote the mission of the college though dedication to four major goals: to review all alcohol/other drug education programs and events in order to ensure consistency in content, tone, quality, and philosophy; to review disciplinary responses to alcohol and other drug infractions; to make recommendations regarding the college's response to alcohol and other drug use; to review all proposals for funds derived from substance abuse prevention grants, and distribute funds as appropriate
It is our belief that these goals promote civility, responsible citizenship, and the habits of health and well-being conducive to scholarly pursuits and personal development. Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)
RAD is a comprehensive self–defense system for women. The program includes awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance strategies, as well as options available to women during a confrontation or attack. RAD is a hands on defense training program, not a martial arts course.
RAD is taught by nationally certified DPS officers. The program focuses on developing self-defense as one of the options available to women. The system includes carefully selected, realistically employable defense tactics which utilize a woman's personal weapons (such as hands and feet). These tactics are easy to learn and easy to retain.
The course is 12 hours in length and is completed in two or more sessions. At no point is a student ever struck or physically attacked. Students are, however given the opportunity to fight with an aggressor full on and actually realize the physical power they each have within themselves.
