Alcohol Education Although drinking certainly occurs on our campus, we are committed to educating students about the effects of alcohol. There are many opportunities to attend parties that are alcohol-free. Not all organizations have activities where drinking takes place. The College is committed, through the Alcohol-Free Party Grant, to help pay for events that do not serve alcohol. The Alcohol Education Committee, a subcommittee of the Health and Wellness Committee, is a multidisciplinary task force which seeks to promote the mission of the College in general and the Division of Student Life in particular though dedication to four major goals: To review all Student Life alcohol/other drug education programs and events in order to ensure consistency in content, tone, quality, and philosophy To review disciplinary responses to alcohol and other drug infractions To make recommendations to the Division of Student Life regarding the College's response to alcohol and other drug use To review all proposals for funds derived from substance abuse prevention grants, and distribute funds as appropriate It is our belief that these goals promote civility, responsible citizenship, and the habits of health and well-being conducive to scholarly pursuits and personal development. The committee is dedicated to utilizing the unique expertise of each member in order to develop an environmental management program that truly reflects the entire professional community of the College. The committee is comprised of members from all offices in the Division of Student Life, student representatives, and faculty representatives.
