Alcohol Free Party Grants

The Division of Student Life with assistance from the Student Senate is offering members of the Dickinson Community the opportunity to apply for Alcohol-Free Party Grants. These grants, valued at $150 each, provide individuals or groups with an opportunity to host an alcohol-free event for the campus.

Grants are available to any member of the Dickinson community, including students, faculty, administrators and staff. There are five steps to receiving a grant:

1. Decide on an event.
2. Apply for the grant.
3. Receive grant approval.
4. Host the event.
5. Receive the grant money.

Grants, which usually total $150, may be used to finance food, beverages, entertainment, and advertising. The event must be a social event open to the entire campus, such as a dance party, a game show, or any other event that does not serve alcohol. Grants for larger amounts will be considered based on the merits of the proposal. Proposals for late-night programs are especially encouraged.

Applications are available at the Office of Student Activities. They must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event. The application will be reviewed for approval. If your grant is approved, you will receive notification via e-mail and in the group contact's HUB box. If you do not receive approval, you will be given time to make changes to the grant application and re-submit, but the deadline will remain in effect.

If you receive grant approval, hold the event as planned. The Department of Public Safety will stop by the event to ensure that it is, in fact, alcohol free. If any alcohol is present, you will lose the grant funding for the event.

After the event is held, present all receipts to the Office of Student Activities within 72 hours (3 calendar days) of the event. Pending DPS notification that the event was alcohol-free, you will be reimbursed within two weeks by the college. You will also be asked to fill out a brief event evaluation form in order to help us determine the success of these events and help with funding decisions in the future.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Residential Life, x1556, and ask about the Alcohol-Free Party Grant. We hope you will take full advantage of this opportunity during the semester.
