Water |
- Collect rain water for plant watering.
- Don't dump out those half empty water bottles, consolidate the water and use for plants, or even doing dishes.
- If you own your own home, consider installing a greywater system. This will reuse the water from your showers and kitchen sinks to flush your toilets. It may not seem like a big deal, but approximately 50-80% of the water used in a residential home is due to toilet flushing.

Paper |
Dickinson uses about 25,000 sheets of paper each day. Laid end to end, a week's worth of paper would extend from Carlisle well past Harrisburg.
- Designate a box for scrap paper and use it for printing all drafts or unofficial documents.
- Reuse envelopes by placing a new label over the old address.
- Try making your own paper -- it's easy! You can also score bonus points for giving people homemade gifts near the holidays.

Other |
- Bring your own bottle or mug for refills. You can get a Green Devil mug by emailing Becki Walker.
- Bring a cloth bag or reuse paper/plastic bags instead of getting new ones.
- Use packing peanuts to create or refill a bean bag chair.
- Clean egg cartons can be used as mini greenhouses to start your organic produce seeds.
- Rinse out and reuse zip top bags, as longs as they did not hold raw meat.
- Save plastic containers that aren't #1 plastic [check the bottom of the bottle first!] for storing food or other items.
