Oot Selected for IWLCA North/South Senior All-Star Game (Carlisle, PA)- Dickinson College seniors Hilary Harding (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) and Lisa Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) have both been selected to participate in the IWLCA North/South Senior All-Star Game on June 10th in Baltimore, Maryland. The nation's top seniors will compete at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field as part of the STX Lacrosse/IWLCA's Farewell Festival. The Division III game will lead-off a triple-header of action, starting at 11:00 am. The Division II game is scheduled for approximately 1:00 pm, with the Division I game set for 3:00 pm. Harding and Oot concluded outstanding defensive careers at Dickinson, leading the Red Devils to the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance, including a First-round victory over Springfield College. Dickinson set a pair of school records, winning nine consecutive games to start the season and finishing and school-best 13-5 overall. Five Red Devils Earn IWLCA All-Metro
Region Honors (Carlisle, PA)- Dickinson College placed five players on the IWLCA All-Metro Region Women's Lacrosse Team. The Red Devils, ranked 13th in the latest IWLCA Coaches' Poll, finished the season 13-5. They advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Playoffs in the program's first tournament appearance. Three Dickinson players were named to the First-team while two earned Second-team honors. The Centennial Conference was very well represented as 25-of-32 players were named to the squad. Senior Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) was a First-team selection. She earned her third selection to the All-Centennial team, garnering Second-team honors in both 2004 and 2005, and First-team honors this season. The senior captain led the Red Devils with 51 points behind 31 goals and 20 assists. A dominant midfielder, Oot led the CC in draw controls with 52, averaging 3.25 per game. Oot also ranks second on the team in caused turnovers with 20 and third in ground balls with 33. Oot became the sixth player in program history to score 100 goals in her career. She ranks sixth all-time with 100 goals, second with 63 career assists and fourth in career points with 163. She has controlled a remarkable 223 draw controls in the past four seasons and 157 ground balls. Junior midfielder Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) makes her third appearance on the All-Region team. She was named First-team this season, receiving Second-team honors in 2004 and 2005. She was a First-team selection to the All-Centennial sqaud this year, following Second-team honors in 2005. In addition Cone was tabbed as an Inside Lacrosse Third-team All-American in 2005 as well. Cone led the Centennial Conference in ground balls per game at 4.50 and caused turnovers at 2.78 per contest. The junior became a significant scoring threat last season, and tallied 30 goals and nine assists in 2006. First-year Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) was a welcome addition to the Red Devil attack. Scoring four goals in her collegiate debut, Jennings went on to set a school record for goals by a first-year with a team-high 42. She also set the school mark for points scored by a first-year, adding 13 assists for 55points. Jennings went 5-for-7 on free position shots and tallied 32 ground balls in 2006. She led the Devils to an NCAA First-Round win, scoring seven goals and handing out three assists in a 13-8 victory over Springfield. Jennings earned First-team All-Region honors and was an Honorable Mention selection to the All-Centennial Conference team. Earning Second-team honors on defense was senior captain Hilary Harding (Doylestown, PA/Doylestown). She started 62-of-63 games in her career as a Red Devil. She anchored a defensive that held opponents to just 9.06 goals per game this season, ranking third in the Centennial Conference as a team for the season. Harding is a three-time member of the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll. She was invited to play in the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star game on June 10th at Johns Hopkins University. Junior midfielder Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) makes her second appearance on the All-Region squad, earning Second-team honors last season as well. A versatile midfielder, Austin tallied 30 goals and 12 assists to rank fourth on the team in scoring with 42 points. She finished second on the team with 42 ground balls and third with 41 draw controls. She reached the century mark this season for career points, and currently ranks eighth all-time with 117. Dream Season Ends at NCAA Division III Regionals (Salisbury, MD) - The #13-ranked Dickinson College women’s lacrosse team fell to Salisbury University in the Regional round of the NCAA Division III playoffs on Saturday. Third-ranked Salisbury used a strong start to take an 8-1 lead at halftime en route to an 11-6 win. The Seagulls scored the first five goals of the game before Dickinson’s Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) converted a free position to put the Devils on the board at the 11:12 mark of the first half. After the break junior Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) scored the first of her two second half goals as Dickinson outscored the Seagulls 5-3. Williams raised her career points total to 103, scoring her 38th goal of the season. The Red Devils finished the game with a 4-1 run as juniors Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School), Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) and Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark’s) tallied unassisted goals and Williams finished a beautiful pass from Kelsey Oldendorp (Madison, NJ/Madison). First-years Ana Sokol (Colts Neck, NJ/Peddie School) and Jennings each controlled three draw controls while Austin tallied a game-high six ground balls. Cone was also solid in the midfield with a pair of caused turnovers and three ground balls. The Red Devils turned in a tremendous effort in the tournament, playing without senior captain Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown). A First-team All-Centennial Conference selection, Oot played a major role on draws and in the Devils’ transition game. She, along with classmates Kristin Achtmeyer (Concord, MA/Lawrence Academy), Lisa Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) and Hilary Harding (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) set a school record for wins by a class as the Devils also set school marks for wins in a season and consecutive wins. The Red Devils raised the school mark with a 13-5 overall record this spring, making their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Devils also posted the program’s first NCAA win, topping Springfield College 13-8 in the opening round. The Devils began the season with a record nine straight wins, bettering the streak set last season. The Centennial Conference was well represented in the NCAA playoffs as Gettysburg advanced to the Final Four while Franklin & Marshall plays in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Red Devils Second Round Bound (Carlisle, PA)- The #13-ranked Dickinson College women's lacrosse team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs with a 13-8 win at Springfield College on Wednesday afternoon. The Red Devils improve to a school-best 13-4 overall and will travel to #3-ranked Salisbury University on Saturday morning for an 11:30am match-up. First-year Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) tallied a career and game-high seven goals, and added two assists while junior Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) added four goals and a pair of assists to lead the attack. Lizzie Skolnik (Great Falls, VA/The Madeira School) and Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends) each scored while Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark's) and Dana Bunting (Bishopsville, MA/Worcester Prep) recorded assists. Junior Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) anchored a tremendous defensive effort with a game-high six caused-turnovers and six ground balls. Seniors Lisa Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) and Hilary Harding (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) were also outstanding in the win, recording a combined eight ground balls. Junior Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) played a dominant role in the midfield with five ground balls and two assists. Springfield struck first, taking a 2-0 lead before the Devils answered with three straight to pull in front with just under 21 minutes remaining in the half. The Pride scored back-to-back goals to take its final lead of 4-3 with 14:19 on the clock. The Devils used a 7-1 run to take control at halftime with a 10-5 advantage. After the break, the offensive pace slowed as the teams traded three goals each for the final of 13-8. Springfield again opened the half with back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 10-7 with just over 26 minutes remaining. The Devils maintained their composure, regaining possession quickly after turnovers and applying constant pressure throughout the game. Jennings tallied the final three goals for Dickinson with the last coming off an assist from Williams. Jennings adds to her school records for goals and points by a first-year with 41 and 53, respectively Junior goaltender Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) made six stops in the Red Devil cage while Kristin Vaccaro and Nicole Flores combined for 14 saves in the net for Springfield. Ashley Martell scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Pride while Rachel Lampros added two goals. The #13-ranked Red Devils will face host #3-Salisbury at 11:30, followed by #4-The College of New Jersey and #10-Washington & Lee University at 2:30 pm in the Sweet 16. Junior goaltender Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) was an Honorable mention selection to this year's team. She set a school record, stopping 512 shots in her career. She is the first Dickinson netminder to record over 500 saves, ranking first, fifth and sixth on the single season list. Joffie ranked fifth in the conference in goals-against-average, save percentage and saves per game. First-year Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) was a welcome addition to the Red Devil attack. Centennial Semifinal (Gettysburg, PA)- The #14th-ranked Dickinson College women's lacrosse team went right after #8th-ranked Franklin & Marshall in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference playoffs, but fell in the end 15-12. Despite an early loss of senior captain Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown), the Red Devils jumped out to a 7-1 lead behind four goals from junior Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends). The Diplomats stormed back, scoring eight unanswered goals to take a 9-8 lead at halftime. The Red Devils opened the second half with back-to-back goals to regain the lead and traded goals for an 11-10 advantage with 19:14 remaining in the game. The Diplomats went on a 5-0 run over the next 12 minutes to lead 15-11. Junior Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) closed out the scoring with her fourth goal of the game, converting a free-position shot with 1:19 on the clock. Goss and Austin each led the Devils with four goals while classmate Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) scored twice and dished out an assist. Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) caused five turnovers and controlled three ground balls. Junior goaltender Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) made 11 saves. Jen Pritchard and Kelly Cassels provided most of the offense for the Diplomats (13-3), combining for nine goals and three assists. Kamissa Mort made six saves in the F&M cage. The Red Devils are currently 12-4 overall and will await a possible NCAA or ECAC Tournament bid next week. Seniors Shine in Season Home Finale (Carlisle, PA)- The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team added a win to its single season school record, rolling to a 20-6 win over Washington College on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils improve to 12-3 overall and 6-3 in the Centennial Conference. They will be the number three seed in next weekend's Centennial Conference Tournament. The game was played in a driving rain but the Red Devil seniors shined brightly in their final home contest. Senior midfielder Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) recorded her 100th career goal, scoring four on the afternoon. She added two assists, five draw controls and three ground balls as well. Senior Kristin Achtmeyer (Concord, MA/Lawrence Academy) played outstanding as well, scoring two goals and handing out an assist. Junior Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) tallied three goals and two assists, and controlled a game-high six draw controls. Classmate Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends) added three goals and one assist. Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) controlled the midfield and chipped in with two goals, five draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers. Junior goalkeeper Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) recorded her 500th career save, stopping eight shots in 48 minutes of action. Joffie holds the school career mark with 501 total. First-year Caitlyn Kingsley (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) came off the bench to make three saves in the final 12 minutes. The Red Devils dominated the center circle, winning 22-of-27 draws. They jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening five minutes and held a 13-2 advantage at halftime. They started the second half with three straight goals and held a 7-4 scoring edge in the second half. Suzie Jacob led Washington (7-10, 2-7) with two goals while Mollie Binotto made 12 saves. The Red Devils will face #6-ranked Franklin & Marshall in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference playoffs, hosted at top seed, and #1-ranked Gettysburg College. Game times will be announced on Monday. Sixth-Ranked Diplomats Top Devils 18-8 (Lancaster, PA)- The number sixth-ranked Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall scored the first five goals en route to an 18-8 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse win on Tuesday. Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends) and Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) each scored in the first half as the Devils trailed 9-2 at the break. Goss and Oot each struck again to start the second half before the Diplomats answered with a 5-1 run to lead 14-5 with just over 15 minutes remaining in the game. Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) and Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) scored back-to-back goals at 14:04 and 13:00 to cut the margin to 14-7. 11th Win (Collegeville, PA) - The 16th-ranked Dickinson College women’s lacrosse team broke a school record with its 11th win of the season on Saturday. In the process the Red Devils also posted their first-ever win over Ursinus College in 13 meetings, topping the Bears 19-12. Dickinson held the advantage in a highly offensive first half, taking a 14-9 lead into the break. The Bears took an early 4-1 lead in the opening six minutes before the Devils rattled off nine straight goals to lead 10-4 at the 15:09 mark. Ursinus pulled within three at 11-8, but Dickinson went on a 4-1 run in the final 1:45 of the half. The second half saw more of a defensive struggle as the Devils held just a 5-3 advantage in the final 30 minutes. The Devils maintained control scoring four consecutive goals over a period of just under 17 minutes to lead 19-10 with 3:49 remaining. Ursinus tacked on two goals at the end for the final of 19-12. Juniors Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) and Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) each scored a game-high four goals to lead the Red Devils. Cone won four draws, controlled four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Williams also won four draws as Dickinson controlled the circle, holding a 20-12 advantage for the game. Senior Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) recorded a hat-trick with four goals and three assists. She added three draw controls and had two groundballs. Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark's) scored twice and had two assists while rookie Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) struck once and dished out an assist. Junior goaltender Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) made 13 saves and set a school record for single-season wins by a goalkeeper. Eight players scored for Ursinus (8-5, 4-3) with four players netting a pair. Catie Cameron led the Bears with two goals and an assist. 13-9 (Carlisle, PA) - The 16th-ranked Dickinson College women’s lacrosse team fell shy of its bid to knock-off the #3-ranked Bullets of Gettysburg on Tuesday. The Red Devils jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead before the Bullets pulled even at halftime and went on to capture a 13-9 decision. The unbeaten Bullets improved to 12-0 on the season and remained perfect in Centennial Conference play at 6-0. Junior Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) put the Devils on the board just 50 seconds into the game, scoring off an assist from classmate Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends). Senior Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) scored on a free position and then assisted first-year Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) to stretch the margin to 3-0 at the 25:00 mark. The Bullets scored back-to-back goals to end the half on a 5-2 run with the game tied 5-5. Gettysburg tallied the first goals of the second half to take a 9-4 lead with 20:13 remaining. Cone and Goss each scored in a span of just 53 seconds to cut the deficit to 9-7. The teams traded goals before a 3-0 run put the Bullets in control with a 13-8 advantage at the 2:29 mark. Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark's) closed out the scoring off an assist from Jennings with 29 seconds remaining in the contest. Cone led the Red Devils with three goals and four ground balls while Boccetti tallied two goals on the day. Oot, Jennings and Goss all finished with a goal and an assist. Oot also controlled three draws as did senior Hilary Harding (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown), who played a solid game defensively for the Red Devils. Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) tallied a goal, caused a pair of turnovers and controlled a pair of ground balls. Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) and Dana Bunting (Bishopsville, MA/Worcester Prep) also played well in the midfield. Win (Swarthmore, PA) - The 13th-ranked Dickinson College women’s lacrosse team held Swarthmore to just two goals in each period, taking a 4-2 lead and halftime and doubling the offense after the break for a 12-4 win. The Red Devils matched the school record set last season with 10 wins, improving to 10-1 overall and 4-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils two goals in the opening four minutes to take 2-0 lead before Swarthmore answered at the 24:07 mark. The teams traded goals with Dickinson holding a 4-2 advantage at halftime. Junior Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) scored the last goal of the half to start a 6-0 run that gave the red Devils a 9-2 advantage with 19:10 remaining. First-year Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) scored a pair of goals to start the second half, striking just 1:24 into the period and again just a little over two minutes later to make the score 6-2. Swarthmore ended the run with back-to-back goals before Dickinson finished the day with three goals in the final three minutes. Jennings finished with three goals, six ground balls and a draw control while senior center Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) tallied three goals, controlled five ground balls and four draw controls. Susannah Blair made 10 saves in goal for Haverford. The Red Devils host conference front-runner Gettysburg College on Tuesday with the opening draw set for 4:30 pm. Green Terror Slips Past Red Devils 9-7 (Westminster, MD) - The 13th-ranked Dickinson College women’s lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season, falling at McDaniel College 9-7. The Green Terror held a 5-3 lead at halftime and played even with the Devils throughout the second half. McDaniel scored first, taking a 1-0 lead just 40 seconds into the contest. Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) evened the score at the 25:19 with an assist from Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends). First-year Dana Bunting (Bishopsville, MD/Worcester Prep) gave Dickinson a 2-1 advantage just over a minute later, scoring off an assist from Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark’s). The teams traded goals once again as Kelsey Oldendorp (Madison, NJ/Madison) gave the Devils a 3-2 lead with 15:15 remaining in the first half. The Green Terror tallied three unanswered goals to end the half and led 5-3 at the break. First-year Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) opened the second, scoring just 1:43 into the half. McDaniel’s Kim Lowry scored then assisted Caitlin Schellhorn to put the Green Terror in front 7-4. Goss countered with a goal and an assist of her own to pull the Devils within a goal 7:48 mark. McDaniel tacked on two more goals to stretch the margin back to three at 9-6 with 3:10 on the clock. The Devils had some quality chances down the stretch but the Green Terror held on for a 9-7 win. Senior Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) scored off a Jennings assist with 44 seconds remaining to close out the scoring for the afternoon. Seven different players scored for the Red Devils. Oot dominated the center circle, controlling seven draws on the day to go with a pair of caused turnovers. Cone anchored a solid effort in the midfield with a game-high eight ground balls. Goss added a pair of draw controls and three ground balls to her goal and two assists. The Red Devils go 9-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play. They extend their school record winning streak to nine straight games. Senior Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) led the attack with five points, netting two goals, assisting three and tallying seven ground balls. The Red Devils continue the program's best start and improve to 2-0 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils also break the school record for consecutive wins, which they set last season. Junior Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends) scored the game's first two goals, just 11 seconds apart at the 23:33 mark and again at 23:22. The win keeps the Red Devils unbeaten on the season at 4-0. Junior Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Mark's) added four goals and one assist as the Dickinson attack opened an 11-4 lead in the first half. Stevens struck twice early with the first coming just 1:21 into the contest. The Red Devils answered with a 5-0 run to take the lead. Over Goucher (Carlisle, PA)-- The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team survived a thriller with Goucher College, scoring the winning goal with 2:51 remaining to edge the Gophers 11-10. The Red Devils remain unbeaten and improve to 3-0 on the season. Goucher struck first, scoring the game's first two goals. Junior Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) answered with the first two of her game-high five goals to knot the score at 2-2. The teams traded goals throughout the first half and headed into the break tied 5-5. The second half was much of the same as the game saw five ties in the final 19:50. Sandy Okun and Katie Deming tallied back-to-back goals at the 7:37 mark and at 6:39 to pull in front 10-9. Williams would be the answer again, scoring the final two goals of the game. Williams snagged a rebound off a shot by Amy Jennings (Baltimore, MD/McDonogh) to even the score with 3:46 remaining. She then found the net off a pass from Jennings at the 2:51 mark. Against Messiah (Grantham, PA)-- Solid defensive play from the Dickinson College women's lacrosse team allowed the Red Devils to dominate against Messiah College on Saturday, posting a 10-5 win. Junior goalkeeper Gabbie Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) had a standout performance in goal making 11 saves on the day while senior Hilary Harding (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) led the defense with aggressive play, notching three ground balls and causing a pair of turnovers. Messiah came out strong, scoring two goals within the first three minutes of the game. Dickinson called a timeout to break the momentum and proceeded to score five unanswered goals before the half, giving the Red Devils the 5-2 advantage at the break. Dickinson wasted little time as they opened the second half, and put three more past Messiah before the Falcons would find the net. The Red Devil defense kept Messiah scoreless for just under 32 minutes before Messiah junior Megan Duke made the score 8-3. The Falcons made a late run and put two past Dickinson's defense with less than a minute to go in the game but the Red Devils finished with the 10-5 victory. Devils Win in Overtime to Clinch CC Playoff Bid (Allentown, PA)--The Dickinson women's lacrosse team clinched its first-ever spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs in dramatic fashion with a 16-12 overtime win over Muhlenberg on Wednesday night. The Red Devils improve to 9-4 on the season and 5-3 in the Conference. Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) scored four goals and dished out an assist while Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) added three goals and one assist to lead the attack. Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline) tallied a game-high five caused turnovers and picked up five ground balls to anchor the defensive effort while Lizzie Skolnik (Great Falls, VA/The Madeira School) recorded four draws. Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) struck first for Dickinson, scoring just 1:47 into the game. Muhlenberg answered with a 6-1 run to lead 6-2 with 17:29 remaining in the half. The teams traded goals with Muhlenberg taking a 9-6 lead into the break. The teams each scored twice to open the second half before the Devils score four unanswered goals to regain the lead 12-11, with just under six minutes to go in the game. Courtney Tapkas netted the equalizer with 2:54 on the clock, sending the game into overtime. Four different Devils scored in the two overtime periods while the Devil defense held the Mules scoreless for the final six minutes. Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, PA/Sandy Spring Friends) tallied the game-winner just 1:06 into the first overtime period. Williams converted a Lisa Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) assist with just three seconds left in the period. Twin sister Lesley scored to open the second overtime and Cone closed out the scoring 18 seconds later. Sophomore Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) came off the bench to make 11 saves in 41 minutes of action for Dickinson. Hilary Harding (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) gave a solid performance on the defensive end as well, recording three ground balls. Shannon Donahue led Muhlenberg with three goals while Diana Bleakley stopped eight shots in goal. The Red Devils return home to face Bryn Mawr on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Austin, Oot Lead Devils Past Washington (Chestertown, MD)--The Dickinson women's lacrosse team jumped out to 10-5 halftime lead en route to a 15-11 Centennial Conference win over Washington College on Saturday. The Red Devils improve to 8-4 on the season and 4-3 in the conference. Sophomore Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) scored four goals and handed out three assists while Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) struck twice and tallied a game-high five assists on the day. Washington opened the scoring just 1:34 into the game before the Devils answered with three straight goals. The Devils also ended the half with a 4-1 run to lead 10-5 at the break. The Shorewomen came out hot, scoring the first three goals of the second half to pull within two at the 24 minute mark. Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, MD/Sandy Spring Friends) and Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline) tallied back-to-back goals to stretch the margin to 12-8 before Erin Bollinger netted two goals to cut the deficit to 12-10 with 11:16 remaining in the game. The teams traded goals again, but the Devils would tack on two more in the final three minutes to secure the win. The Red Devils travel to Muhlenberg on Wednesday for a 7:00 start under the lights in Allentown. #12 F&M Tops Dickinson 12-5 (Carlisle, PA)--The Dickinson women's lacrosse team played a close first half against #12-ranked Franklin & Marshall, trailing 4-2 at the break. The Diplomats turned it up in the second half and outscored Dickinson 8-3 to seal the 12-5 win. Dickinson sophomore Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) netted the first goal of the day at 7:28 before F &M would go on a three goal streak. At 24:35 Austin would strike again, making the score 3-2, the closest the Red Devils would get to F&M on the day. With thirty seconds on the clock, F&M netted another goal to take the 4-2 lead at halftime. After the break, the Diplomats came out on fire, scoring three unanswered goals during the first six minutes. Sophomore Tara Goss (Sandy Spring,MD/Sandy Spring Friends) answered with a goal at the 8:05 mark. F&M put two past Dickinson's defense before Goss answered again, making the score 9-4. Fast Start Leads Bears Past Devils 10-5 April 9, 2005 (Carlisle, PA)-- Junior Ashley Ettinger scored four goals, all in the first half to lead the Ursinus College women's lacrosse team to a 10-5 win over Dickinson on Saturday. The Bears scored the first four goals of the game and led 8-2 at halftime. After the break both defenses turned in solid performances, allowing just five combined goals in the second half. The Red Devils scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead to 9-5 at the 3:20 mark, but could pull no closer as they slip to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference. Devils Play Well in Loss to 7th-Ranked Gettysburg (Gettysburg, PA)-- The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team was tied with 7th-ranked Gettysburg 6-6 at halftime before dropping just their second game of the season 14-9. The Bullets took a 6-4 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the half on a goal by Katie Lowe. Dickinson closed out the half with back-to-back goals from Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) and Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) to pull the Devils even at the break. The teams traded goals to open the half before a 3-0 run gave Gettysburg a 10-7 advantage with 19:34 remaining in the game. Sophomore midfielder Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) answered to the cut the lead back to 10-8, but another three-goal run put the Bullets in front 13-8. Joffie Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week (Carlisle, PA)--Dickinson College goaltender Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) was named the Centennial Conference women's lacrosse Player of the Week. Joffie was outstanding between the pipes in a pair of Red Devil victories last week. She made 15 stops in a 14-9 win against McDaniel, then turned away 18 in the 14-8 triumph vs. Swarthmore. For the week, Joffie had a 66.0 save percentage, stopping 33 of 50 shots on goal. The Red Devils are off to the best start in school history at 7-1 and have won a school record seven straight games this season. They are also on top of the Centennial Conference with a 3-0 mark. Red Devils Set School Record With Seventh Straight Win (Carlisle, PA)--The Dickinson women's lacrosse team set a school record with its seventh straight win on Saturday. The Red Devils topped Swarthmore 14-8 to improve to 7-1 and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference. Junior midfielder Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) tallied four goals and three draws while sophomore Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) added three goals and an assist, and Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) chipped in with a pair of goals and as assist. The Red Devils struck early, just 16 seconds into the game and pulled in front 5-2 with 4:41 remaining in the first half. Swarthmore battled and trailed just 7-5 at halftime. After the break the Garnet Tide found the net at the 27:42 mark, but Dickinson answered with five straight goals to take control 12-6. The teams traded goal over the final 20 minutes to make the final 14-8. Dickinson goaltender Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) played outstanding in the cage stopping 18 shots on the day. Swarthmore's Susannah Blair was equally as impressive making 23 saves for the Garnet Tide. The Red Devils' 7-1 start is also the best in school history. They will take their seven game winning streak to Conference power Gettysburg College on Tuesday for a 4:30 start. Red Devils Keep Streak Alive With Win Over McDaniel (Carlisle, PA)--The Dickinson women's lacrosse team continued their winning streak Wednesday beating Centennial Conference opponent McDaniel College 14-9 for the first time since 1991. The Red Devils improve to 6-1 overall, matching the school record for best start of the season, and are now 2-0 in the CC. McDaniel jumped out to a 2-0 lead during the first five minutes of the game. Dickinson answered back at 23:49 before McDaniel put one more past the Devils giving them their last lead of the game. The Red Devils went on a five goal run before the Green Terror put another point on the board. With seven minutes remaining in the first half, the Devils turned it on with a four goal run and finished the half with a 10-4 advantage. The Devils kept the fire going after half, scoring two goals within in the first three minutes. McDaniel made a run, putting three consecutive goals in the net in a two minutes span, making the score 12-7. However, Dickinson ended the streak with 19:29 remaining on the clock. At 14:44 the Green Terror made a final push to close the gap, netting two goals in less than a minute, but Dickinson would answer with the final goal of the game at 6:12. Red Devils Escape Haverford 10-9 in Overtime (Haverford, PA)--The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 10-9 overtime win at Haverford on Saturday. This is the best start for a women's lacrosse team since 1983 when the Red Devils opened the season 6-1. Junior midfielder Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) netted the game-winner, her third goal of the game to lead the way for the Red Devils. Red Devils Fly Past Blue Jays (Carlisle, PA)--The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team improved to 4-1 on the season with an 18-5 win over Elizabethtown College on Tuesday. Senior Hannah Johnson (Littleton, CO/Arapahoe), junior Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) and sophomore Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School) led the attack with a combined 13 points. Johnson had a season high four goals, whereas Oot had two goals and two assists and Austin netted two and assisted three. Including Johnson, Oot and Austin, nine different Red Devils put goals on the board. Sophomore Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) had two goals, one assist and grabbed eight ground balls, two draw controls and caused six turnovers. The Blue Jays took an early lead, scoring the first goal at 26:04 and holding Dickinson scoreless until the clock read 12:02. Dickinson turned on the heat and put three goals past Elizabethtown in six minutes. The Blue Jays answered back with 4:32 remaining to pull within one, but with less than four minutes on the clock, Dickinson went on a 5-0 to end the half with an 8-2 advantage. Dickinson opened the second by putting five more past Elizabethtown, making the score 13-2. The Red Devils and Blue Jays traded goals for the next ten minutes before the Devils sealed the 18-5 win, finishing the half on a 3-0 run. Devils Top Susquehanna 11-6 (Carlisle, PA)-- The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team erased an early 2-0 deficit to defeat visiting Susquehanna University 11-6 on Friday afternoon. The Red Devils took a 5-3 lead into halftime and outscored the Crusaders 6-3 in the second half to improve to 1-1 on the season. Freshman Caitlin Blair (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's/St. Agnes) and sophomores Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day) and Tara Goss (Sandy Spring, PA/Sandy Springs Friends) each tallied a pair of goals to pace the Red Devil attack. Strong Second Half Not Enough For Devils (Carlisle, PA)-- Messiah College jumped out to an early 5-1 lead and used a big first half to post a 15-9 win over Dickinson in women's lacrosse on Wednesday. The Falcons led 11-3 at halftime, but the Red Devils came alive scoring six and holding Messiah to just four second half goals. Leading the attack was sophomore midfielder Laura Williams (Chestertown, MD/Gunston Day), who put four points on the board for the Devils. Also, coming up big for the Red Devils was freshman Caitlin Blair (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's/St. Agnes), making a debut with two goals. Sophomores Jena Boccetti (Hockessin, DE/St. Marks) and Katie Austin (Warwick, RI/The Wheeler School), and junior Lesley Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) each netted a goal, while Lisa Oot (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) notched two assists on the day. On the defensive end, Lizzie Cone (Hockessin, DE/Ursuline Academy) racked up three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Sophomore Julie Hunter (Morristown, NJ/Morristown Beard) had 23 saves in the first half while teammate Gabby Joffie (Jamaica, NY/Mercersburg Academy) came up with 14 saves during the second. Katye Hall and Kate Woods led the Falcons' attack with a combined eight points. The Red Devils go 0-1 and will host Susquehanna at 4pm on Friday at Biddle Stadium. Red Devils Look to Continue Momentum in 2005 The Red Devils enter the 2005 campaign coming off one of the best seasons since 1996. In 2004 the Dickinson women’s lacrosse team posted the most wins since the 1996 season with a 6-9 overall record and a 3-6 mark in the Centennial Conference. Under head coach Kasey Ryan, the Red Devils doubled their wins from 2003 and according to Laxpower.com posted the number one upset in Division III and was ranked in the top ten for most improved programs. The Red Devils finished sixth in the Centennial Conference in 2004 and look to continue the momentum they gained last season and compete for a top five spot in the conference.
