| Liebal 41st at NCAA National Championships (Wilmington, OH)- Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) finished 41st overall with a time of 27:52 at the 2006 NCAA National Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Junior Caitlin Bradley (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) finished second overall with a time of 22:51 at the to lead the Red Devil women to a sixth place finish in the team standings. Bradley's finish is the highest ever by a Dickinson runner and the team matched the school's best finish, including 2005. She earns her second straight All-America honor and was named the Mideast Region Runner of the Year this season. Darcy McDonald (Lititz, PA/Warwick) (24:25)and Kirsten Lind (Tacoma, WA/Annie Wright) (24:26) crossed the line 63rd and 64th, respectively, while sophomore Becca Trosch (Towson, MD/Loch Raven) (24:30) was 69th. Junior Laura Straw (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (24:50) was the Devils number five runner, crossing 95th overall. First-years Kristina Pfeifer (Merrick, CT/Staples) (25:07)and Mary Hamilton (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Academy) (25:46) placed 119th and 184th, respectively. Fifth Overall (Waynesburg, PA)- The Dickinson College men's cross county team placed fifth at the NCAA Mideast Regionals on Saturday. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) earned All-Region honors with a 10th place showing and a time of 26:49. Classmate Chris Dumbroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City) earned All-Region honors as well, placing 31st with a time of 27:28. Sophomores Brandon Jones (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley ) and Mike Blake (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) were 40th and 47th; first-years Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) and Nick Karwoski (Groton, MA/Hollis Brookline) placed 50th and 57th and first-year Justin Frisco (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) was 59th. Liebal will make his third appearance at the NCAA National Championships, held at Wilmington (OH) College next Saturday. Devil Men Third at CC Championships (Carlisle, PA) - The Dickinson College men's cross country team finished third at the Centennial Conference Championships. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) led the Devils with a sixth place finish to earn First-team All-Conference honors. First-year Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) crossed the line 19th in a time of 27:39, just ahead of senior Chris Dumbroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City), who came in 23rd in 27:49. Sophomores Brandon Jones (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) and Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) came in 25th and 29th, respectively. Nick Karowski (Groton, MA/Hollis-Brookline) and Justin Frisco (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen) were 35th and 36th. Haverford College captured its 14th straight CC title. Senior Zach Vaslow was the individual champion with a time of 25:58. Muhlenberg was second with 56 points. The 'Fords also captured the men's junior varsity race with a perfect score of 15 points. Dickinson was also third in the junior varsity race. Evan Bollinger (Phoenix, MD/Hereford) was ninth to lead Dickinson. The Devils compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship on November 11th. Devil Men Third at Elizabethtown Invitational (Elizabethtown, PA) - The Dickinson College men's cross country team finished third behind Division II Lockhaven University and the host team Elizabethtown. Matt Leibal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) led the way for Dickinson, placing sixth with a time of 19:40. Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) finished 18th with a time of 20:05, Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) was 22nd (20:15), Brandon Jones (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) 26th (20:24) and Nick Karowski (Groton, MA/Hollis Brookline) 29th (20:29). October 7, 2006 (Carlisle, PA) - The Dickinson College men's cross country team placed third in the overall standings of the Dickinson Long/Short Course Invitational on Saturday. The men were fifth in the 8k race and seventh in the 4k event. Dickinson alum Tom Rhodes was the individual winner in the men's 8100. Sophomore Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) led the current squad with a time 27:13 to place 15th overall. Senior Chris Dumbroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City) crossed 19th with a time of 27:20 while Brandon Jones (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) was 25th (27:37. Carnegie-Mellon's Brian Harvey won the men's 4k event with a time of 12:20. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) was the top Devil, crossing 17th with a time of 12:48. First-year Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) was 32nd with a time of 13:06. The Red Devils are off next week before traveling to the Elizabethtown Invitational on Saturday, October 21st. Red Devil Men Claim Third in Paul Short Open (Bethlehem, PA)- The Dickinson College men's cross country team placed third in the College Men's Open race at the Paul Short Invitational on Friday. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) led the Red Devils, finishing fifth with a time of 26:09. Sophomore Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) was 16th with a time of 26:40. Senior Chris Dumbroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City) finished in the top 30 as well, crossing the line 26th with a time of 26:53. Ithaca captured the team title with 88 points while Muhlenberg placed second with 94. Dickinson combined for 124. The Devils' remaining finishes were Brandon Jones: (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) (36th-27:01), Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) (41st-27:03), Dan Weidner (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) (44th-27:07) and Nick Karowski (Groton, MA/Hollis-Brookline) (46th-27:12). September 16, 2006 (Waynesburg, PA) - The Dickinson College men's cross country team placed fourth overall at the Waynesburg Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) led the way for Dickinson finishing seventh overall with a time of 26:48. Mike Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) crossed the line 17th, followed by Chris Dombroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City) in 21st. Title (Gettysburg, PA) - The Dickinson College men's cross country team captured its 10th consecutive Little Three Championship on Wednesday, defeating Franklin & Marshall 15-50 and host Gettysburg 16-44. The Red Devil men claimed the top four spots and had seven runners finish in the top 10. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Monkton) won the individual title with a time of 16:17. Sophomores Mike Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) and Brandon Jones (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) placed second and third with times of 16:24 and 16:31, respectively. First-year Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) was fourth in 16:31 while senior Chris Dumbroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City) finished eighth and sophomore Andrew Gentile (Westport, CT/Staples) crossed the line 10th. The victory allows the Red Devil men to retain possession of the Napolean Cannon Trophy, which is presented to the winning team each year. The Red Devils return to action on Saturday, competing at the Waynesburg Invitational. Red Devil 12th at Lebanon Valley Invitational (Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA) - The Dickinson College men's Varsity B cross country team placed 12th at the Lebanon Valley Invitational on Saturday. The team, consisting of sophomores and first-years, was led by Adam Cesanek (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) in 63rd place with a time of 30:32. Eric Souder (Springfield, PA/Devon Prep) finished 74th, followed by Jon Crocker (Westport, CT/Staples) in 80th. Nate yancheff (Venetia, PA/Peter Township), Eric Dornbush (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) and Dane Lonsdale (Westport, CT) came across 91st, 98th and 102nd, respectively. The University of Mary Washington captured the team title with 60 points. The Red Devils return to action on Wednesday at Gettysburg for the Little Three Championship. Red Devil Men Split Season Opener (Grantham, PA) - The Dickinson College men's cross country team split its season opener, defeating Messiah 24-31 and falling to Elizabethtown 15-43. Elizabethtown claimed the Capital Area Classic title with an 18-45 win over Messiah. Sophomore Brandon Jones (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) led the Red Devil men, finishing seventh overall with a time of 17:02 while first-year Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) came across eighth in a time of 17:06. Sophomore Mike Blake (Johnson City, Minisink Valley) was 10th with a time of 17:12. Seniors Dan Weidner (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) and Peter Birney (Santa Monica, CA/Brentwood) placed 13th and 14th, respectively, with times of 17:22 and 17:24. Classic The Dickinson College men's cross country team opens the 2006 season tonight at the Capital Area Classic, running against Elizabethtown and Messiah College. The Red Devil men were picked third in the Centennial Conference Coaches' poll and will again look to challenge for the title. The Red Devil men lost three of their top runners from 2005 but havea strong core of runners to challenge for the top spots. The Devils lose Tom Rhodes to graduation while juniors Tom Morgan (Bridgewater, MA/Bridgewater) and Evan Sparling (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spalkenkill) spend the semester studying abroad. Senior Matt Liebal (Oakdale, CT/Montville) became the first male to earn All-America honors in cross country last season. He is the top candidate to lead the pack this fall, both on the course and as one of the team's four upperclassmen. Liebal earned All-Region honors, finishing eighth overall at the Mideast Regional Championships. He earned First-team All-Centennial Conference honors, finishing third overall. Veterans Peter Birney (Santa Monica, CA/Brentwood), Chris Dumbroski (Grove City, PA/Grove City) and Dan Weidner (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) will provide the experience as the roster list 15 sophomore and first-year runners, and no juniors. Dumbroski continued to improve throughout the season, finishing as the Devils' number four runner at the Regional Championships. The sophomore class will be solid with some top performers returning from last season. Brandon Jones (Trenton, NJ/Holy Ghost Prep) came on strong down the stretch, finishing as one of the team's top runners in his last four meets. Michael Blake (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley) was consistently in the Devils' top eight last fall. Dave Henderson (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) and Justin Frisco (Collegeville, PA/Perkiomen Valley) also had strong showings in 2005. Newcomers expected to contribute early on include Andy Gregor (Fair Oaks, PA/Quaker Valley) and Nick Karowski (Groton, MA/Hollis Brookline). The Dickinson men ran to a second-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships and placed sixth in the team standings at the Mideast Regional. In addition, they won their ninth consecutive Little Three Championship. The Devils enjoyd a number of strong performances in 2005, finishing no lower than fourth during the regular season. They finished second at both the Towson Invitational and the Purple Valley Invitational, hosted by Williams College. The Devil men ranked third in the team standings at the Cascade College Invite in Portland, Oregon. The Red Devils square-off head-to-head against Franklin & Marshall and Gettysburg in the Little Three Championship on September 13th. They will host the 2006 Long Course/Short Course Invitational on October 7th and the Centennial Conference Championships on October 28th.
