2006 Assistant Football Coaches



Joel Quattrone - Defensive Coordinator
Quattrone is in his 14th season as defensive coordinator and 21st year overall at Dickinson. Quattrone has coached the Red Devils since 1985, leading the running backs, linebackers and the secondary before being named to his present post. He has also coached at Dartmouth College and Canisius College. While at Dickinson, Quattrone has mentored 12 All-Americans.

A four-year letterwinner, Quattrone captained the Canisius football team in 1981, then stayed on as a graduate assistant.
Quattrone is married, has four children, and lives in Carlisle. He is also the Associate Director of Athletics.


Mick Chronister- Defensive Line
Coach Chronister is in his 11th season with the Red Devils, following seven years of high school coaching. Before joining the Dickinson staff, he was an assistant at Boiling Springs High School, following a six year stint at Northern High School.

Chronister is a Biglerville High School graduate and earned a degree from Shippensburg University in 1988. He played four years as a defensive tackle for Shippensburg, serving as a team captain in 1987. He was an assistant coach at Shippensburg in 1988.

Chronister teaches social studies at Northern High School, is married and has three children.


Dave Eavenson- Tight Ends
Eavenson returned to the Red Devil sideline in 2005 with an extensive background in coaching and education. He served in numerous capacities as an assistant with the Dickinson football program from 1986-1992. His resume also includes head coaching positions at Big Spring High School, Jefferson-Morgan High School and Boiling Springs High School. He has been an assistant at Big Spring, Jefferson-Morgan and Carlisle.

Eavenson was named Football Coach of the Year in 1974 by the Dapper Dan Organization (Pittsburgh Press), Greene County Coaches Association, and the WPAL Tri-County Conference. He was inducted into the South Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.

In addition to coaching, Eavenson has taught Health and Physical Education, and served as the Director of Athletics at Jefferson-Morgan, the South Middleton School District and Carlisle High School. He retired from Carlisle in 2004 after 21 years, and was the Interim Associate Director of Athletics at Shippensburg University from 2004-2005.

Eavenson graduated from West Chester University in 1969 with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education, and obtained his M.A. in Education Administration from West Virginia in 1977. He resides in Carlisle with his wife, Mimi. They have two grown Children, David and Jon.


Ben Miller - Offensive Line
Coach Miller enters his 18th season as the Red Devils offensive line coach. He worked at the high school level for seven seasons, as an assistant coach at Big Spring High School in Newville and as the head football coach at Northern High School in York County. Miller served as the offensive line coach at Shippensburg University in 1984 and 1985.

He is a 1972 graduate of Carlisle High School. He holds a master’s degree in Education, and a B.S. in Education from Shippensburg.
Miller teaches fifth grade in the Northern School district, York County. He resides in Dillsburg with his wife Wendy and their two daughters.


Mike Miller - Offensive Line
Mike Miller, Ben’s younger brother, is back for his ninth season with the Red Devils. Mike, who was on Ben’s staff at Northern York High School from 1993-1994, was a second-team All-PSAC center at Shippensburg University in 1977, earning three varsity letters. He is a 1976 Carlisle High School graduate and earned his degree from Shippensburg in 1980.

 

 

 


Sean Murphy - Linebackers
Coach Murphy returns to the Red Devil staff for his third season this fall. He spent the previous three years at Bowdoin College coaching football, lacrosse and strength and conditioning. A 2001 graduate of Plymouth State College, Murphy is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

The Eliot, Maine native was a four-year letter winner in football and lacrosse, earning First-Team All-Conference honors in 1998 and 1999. He was also named All-New England, Football Gazette All-East Region and an Honorable Mention All-American in 1999. In lacrosse, he was First-Team All-League as a senior tri-captain.

Coach Murphy resides in Carlisle with his wife and three children.


Steve Reider - Wide Receivers
Coach Reider returns to the Red Devil program for his seventh season. A wide receiver and Policy Studies major while at Dickinson, Reider graduated in 1995 and is presently a teacher at Bermudian Springs High School. In addition to football, he is also the assistant baseball coach at neighboring Gettysburg College. Coach Reider and his wife reside in Mechanicsburg.

 

 

 


Todd Ryan – Defensive Line
Coach Ryan is entering his third season with the Red Devils. He coached outside linebackers the past two seasons and will work with the defensive line this fall. Prior to joining the Red Devil’s staff Coach Ryan spent three years with Cedar Cliff High School where he was the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for two seasons, and served as the defensive ends coach for one season. He also spent one year coaching defensive ends at Mechanicsburg High School.

A 1994 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a B.S. in Physics, Coach Ryan was a member of the Panther football team from 1989 to 1993. He was a three-year letterman playing as a linebacker and defensive end. He was also a member of the Central Penn Piranha semi-professional football team for two seasons.


Scott Shank - Offensive Backs
Scott Shank returns for his 19th season with the Red Devils. He coached the backs during the 1986 & 1987 seasons, then returned to the same post in 1990. He also served as the head football coach at Boiling Springs High School for eight years and as the head coach at Carlisle High School for two years.

Shank is a graduate of Carlisle High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He earned a B.S. in Health/PE at The University of Maryland in 1971. Shank earned ACC All-Academic Team honors in 1970 as a member of the Terps’ football team.

Shank has two daughters, Erica and Molly, and lives with his wife Dolores in Carlisle. He teaches health at Carlisle High School.


Keven Williams- Quarterbacks
Coach Williams moved from behind center to the sideline last fall. The 2005 graduate led Dickinson to a share of the Centennial Conference title his senior year, setting school records for single-season completions and passing yards. He finished second all-time at Dickinson with 2,652 career passing yards. Williams will assist primarily with the quarterbacks and also assist in video breakdown and recruiting coordination.

 



Bob Ziegler- Linebackers
Coach Ziegler also returned to his alma mater as an assistant last fall. Ziegler moved from the offensive line to defense in 2003 and had to outstanding seasons at defensive end. He was twice named All-Conference, earning Second-team honors in 2003 and First-team honors in 2004. He was among the conference leaders in sacks and tackles-for-loss as a senior, and ranked second in the nation with a conference-best five forced fumbles.

Ziegler will work primarily with the defensive line while assisting with video breakdown and recruiting.
