IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS:
To register for Performance Studies instruction (private lessons), you must register for the MUSIC TEMP class in your instrument. This registration is only TEMPORARY until you make contact with the appropriate instructor (you must do this via email) or the Performance Studies liaison (currently Prof. Blyth blyth@dickinson.edu). Do this immediately after registering for the MUSIC TEMP course on line.

You will have a chance to meet instructors at the annual "Music Activities Night" which occurs on the first Tuesday of classes (Refer to schedule posted once you are on campus for the location). Please be sure to complete your registration and contact the instructor via email before classes begin.

Some instruments have limited capacity (ex: piano, violin, voice). Therefore, after confirming that pre-requisites (if any) have been met, priority will be given to students who meet these criteria:
1. Music Majors w/performance emphasis
2. Music Majors w/other emphasis
3. Returning students

Any MUSIC TEMP courses not confirmed by the instructor with the Registrar's Office by 4pm, Friday, September 3, 2004 will be dropped.

IMPORTANT ADVISING INFORMATION:
All first-semester students in voice must register for MUSIC 113A-01, voice class; special accommodations for those intending to declare a vocal performance major apply. Please contact Prof. Atzinger atzinger@dickinson.edu) for more information.

We strongly suggest Music 115 Fundamentals of Music and/or MUSIC 113A-02, Piano Class for those students with no prior formal musical training or experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
There is an extra fee for performance studies courses (see the Current Fee Schedule under Other Fees). For all Music majors the half-hour fee is waived, and for all majors with a performance studies emphasis the full-hour fee is waived, provided the following conditions are met:
1. The student must be a declared Music major.
2. The student must have completed one course in the core music curriculum, AND be pre-registered for a second core course in music.

A certain number of Performance Studies scholarships are available each semester, and these are made through the student's studio teacher.
