Professor Ambwani is a clinical psychologist and teaches classes such as Psychopathology and Biopsychosocial Perspectives on Disordered Eating. Her research focuses on individual (e.g., affect, personality, interpersonal characteristics) and systemic (e.g., culture, society) correlates of problematic eating behaviors, ranging from eating disorders to obesity.  She is also interested in issues of measurement in psychopathology research. Teresa Barber
Associate Professor of Psychology

Ph.D. University of California, Berkeley

Professor Barber is a biological psychologist, teaching a variety of classes that examine the relationship between the nervous system and behavior, including classes in neuropsychology, in the study of damaged brains, and in impaired behavior. Professor Barber's research focuses on the mechanisms and processes associated with acquisition and storage of information. She is particularly interested in how the brain stores memories in relation to pathological states of memory storage, such as Alzheimer's disease.

Marie Helweg-Larsen, Department Chair

Professor Helweg-Larsen's research areas are in the intersection of cross-cultural psychology, health psychology, and social psychology. Her main area of research investigates the causes, consequences, and correlates of the optimistic bias (people thinking they are less at risk than their peers) -- that is, why people do risky things that they know they should not. Anthony Rauhut
Assistant Professor of Psychology

Professor Rauhut's current teaching interests are in the areas of Learning and Psychopharmacology. His program of research involves using animal models to understand the behavioral and neurobiological mechanisms underlying the comorbidity of depression and drug dependence.

Dr. Tracy is a counseling psychologist whose research activities have focused on self-efficacy theory and public speaking anxiety. A practicing psychologist who directs the college's Counseling Services, Dr. Tracy serves as a supervisor to psychology students who perform senior experiences in community agencies.
