Dickinson Soccer
Facilities and Support
Dickinson Park
Main Playing Field
Locker Rooms
The main soccer facility is centered around this
five acre complex to the west side of the College. The varsity soccer
field is a maximum FIFA sized "match-only" pitch, floodlit, with perhaps
the best surface underfoot in the entire central Pennsylvania region.
Its drainage is superb, to the point that only one match in three seasons
of play has been postponed.
This pitch is supported with a full electronic
scoreboard and observation tower, and with two complete sets of "world
cup" soccer shelters for for both home team and visitors.
In addition, there are two practice pitch areas,
each 110 by 60 yards in size. One hundred and fifty yards from the
main pitch are complete locker rooms and team rooms, an equipment area,
together with a small training room and taping area, making the varsity
soccer teams completely independent for both practice and matches.
Kline Center
Indoor Facility
Main Training Rooms
The Kline Life Sports Learning Center is a "state
of the art" facility which provides the varsity soccer program with additional
facilities, in and out of season, for indoor fitness training, aqua training
and aqua therapy in full-size swimming and diving pools, and indoor soccer
game space. The fully equipped "state of the art" fitness center
opened in 1998.
Importantly, it also houses a complete and
modern training and injury prevention facility. Two fully qualified
Ph.D. athletic trainers, who have United States national team experience,
head the staff of this outstanding facility. A full range of the
most up-to-date equipment and techniques are available to all athletes.
In addition, the Dickinson team doctor, a specialist orthopedic surgeon,
visits for consultation on injuries and rehabilitation each Monday during
the school year. The director of Athletic Training has the full authority
over the safety of student athletes and his rulings on an individual athletes
fitness for competition are binding on both athlete and all coaching staff.
