As founder and CTO of Orpheus Media Research, Dr. Greg Wilder heads development of “Clio,” a patent-pending process that delivers detailed, autonomous analysis of music in any style or genre. Along with its partner organizations, OMR is working to leverage this technology in the areas of digital rights management, music discovery, computer-assisted composition, copyright law, and academic research. In addition to authoring white papers and related articles, Dr. Wilder regularly presents talks on the musical application of interactive and A.I. technologies, most recently as guest speaker at the Institute for Software Integrated Systems (Vanderbilt University) and the 2008 International Computer Music Conference held in Belfast, Ireland.
Dr. Wilder frequently collaborates with leading organizations around the country as pianist, composer, recording engineer, and theatrical sound designer. In addition to a long list of commercial broadcast credits, Greg has served as engraver/editor for several major publications and composed original music for numerous LORT theaters around the country, including several world-premiere productions. In 2007 he co-founded, with composer/conductor Jeremy Gill, philadelphiacamerata.com, a website devoted to the analysis of contemporary music and culture. Previous to working in industry, Dr. Wilder taught on the faculty of West Chester University, where he received an HSA “Outstanding Faculty Member” award for excellence in teaching and honorary membership in Tau Beta Sigma.
Greg began piano studies at age three and composed his first work a few years later, leading him to earn advanced degrees from Bowling Green University (BM, 1996) and the Eastman School of Music (MM, 1999, DMA, 2002). His concert music has garnered featured performances in prominent venues around the world, in addition to numerous awards and honors from organizations including the American Composer’s Forum, the Angel Orensanz Foundation, the William Penn Foundation, ASCAP, the Society of Composers International, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
