Music auditions/interviews offer you an opportunity to meet our faculty and to discuss how music fits into your educational goals. This is particularly important for potential music majors and for those considering studying abroad while enrolled at Dickinson.
Admission to Dickinson College is based on academic excellence. The varied experiences and talents which students bring to Dickinson are considered in the application process, as the College values excellence in all intellectual and artistic pursuits.
Auditions and interviews provide the Admissions Office with a more nuanced picture of the candidate, but have no significant bearing on need-based financial aid decisions. Some limited scholarships to waive the Performance Studies Fee are available to enrolled students who audition at the annual Music Audition Night, but these scholarships are not renewable nor awarded to students prior to enrollment.
No. Recommendations from music faculty are confidential and are forwarded directly to the College Admissions Committee. The Committee then factors this recommendation into the student’s admissions profile.
If you are unable to schedule a live audition, you may follow the guidelines for submitting additional materials. Please follow the repertory guidelines specific to your instrument.
Note: Students must fill out the Dickinson College Music Department Form in order for your recordings to be evaluated by our music faculty.
