A music major or minor must, with the approval of the Department Chair, select an adviser in the Music Department at the time he or she declares the major or minor. The adviser must be a full-time member of the music faculty, and should be from within the area of the student’s emphasis (Performance Studies, History, Theory, or Composition).
It is the student’s responsibility to assure that his or her advising folder is forwarded from the First-Year Seminar instructor to the Music Department adviser as soon as the latter is determined.
Faculty advisers should maintain regular office hours, and students should take care to observe those office hours. For further information on advising, students and faculty alike are encouraged to consult the College’s Advising Handbook. |
