Elective Courses

In addition to core course requirements, all IS majors must complete a cluster of four courses related to either their country/region of concentration or to the functional theme of "Human Security & Globalization." The courses offered by various departments at Dickinson are subject to fluctuation, but the lists below will serve as a general guide to the possibilities. These lists are thus a starting point for discussions that you should have with your advisor regarding course selection for this part of the major.

Human Security & Globalization Courses

Note: Students who elect to complete a "Human Security and Globalization" cluster must take four courses that examine global issues from a transnational perspective. "Human Security and Globalization" courses must be clearly global in focus, rather than country or region specific. Depending on student interests and course availability, clusters can be composed of thematically-related courses or can mix diverse courses on a variety of global issues.
