Requirements for the Major
Ten courses including:
- Methodological Core: 204 (Introduction to Historical Methods), 304 (Historiography and Advanced Methods), 404 (Senior Seminar)
- Concentration (4 courses in the concentration field):
- Breadth: students must take courses in three fields outside of the concentration (i.e. North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia/Middle East, Africa, or Comparative)
- Students must have one course focused primarily on the period before 1800 and one focused primarily after 1800.
In consultation with the advisor, a student may select four related courses on a historical theme. Alternately, a student may select to form the concentration on four courses focused on North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia/Middle East, Africa, or Comparative contexts.
Note that successful scores on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate count as college credits, but they do not count toward one of the required 10 courses for the major.
Minor Requirements
Five approved history courses plus History 204.
