Dickinson College Seismic StationThe Dickinson College Department of Geology recently purchased and installed a Guralp, CMG-PEPPT 3-component, digital output broadband seismometer to replace our old Sprengnether analog instrument after 13 years of service. A real-time display from this instrument is located in the Rennie Museum in the James Center lobby. This new broadband instrument greatly increases our analytical capabilities by allowing us to gather real-time data from numerous stations, including our own, through the Princeton Earth Physics Project (PEPP) Seismic Network. This data can then be used to do earthquake epicenter analysis, magnitude calculations, etc., as well as sharing our own data within the network.
