Internships

Students are reminded that they must do either an academic internship or independent research during their senior year. Opportunities for internships in Geology are virtually endless. State and Federal agencies and private environmental geology and geotechnical consulting firms in the Harrisburg and Carlisle area provide excellent opportunities. Frequently, the students' training is applied to environmental problems in south-central Pennsylvania. Internships can be taken during the academic year as well as the summer. Recently our students have mapped sinkholes for the state geological survey, monitored ground water contamination for local environmental consulting firms, and tested road construction materials for the state department of transportation.
