Community Advisers Community Advisers (CAs) are upper-class students who lead a particular building or area. These students have previously served as RAs, have completed a competitive selection process, and received special training. CAs assist in selecting their staff and are responsible for supervising those staffs during the academic year. CAs also participate in weekly Residential Life meetings and act in an on-call capacity for issues across campus
House & Apartment Managers House and Apartment Managers (HAMs) are a small group of upper-class students assigned to assist student living in Dickinson's apartment and small house living options. These students report to a CA and are spread across campus. As part of their duties they sponsor campus-wide programs focusing on the transition from the undergraduate experience to living independently. This small group is selected each year from students who have had experience as RAs
Resident Advisers Resident Advisers (RAs) are upper-class students living in the halls and suites of Dickinson's traditional housing options. These students are carefully selected, placed, and trained. Working as a staff of four to eleven, RAs strive to help students build and manage productive communities. These staff members sponsor programs, provide resources, mediate minor conflicts, and address policy violations when necessary
Alternate RAs .Alternate RAs are a small group of students selected to participate in RA training even though no RA position is currently available to them. While these students do not receive the same benefits as RAs they are given the same training and participate with a specific staff. If positions open over the summer or during the school year the Alternate RAs are the first students selected to fill the vacancies.
Office Assistants Office Assistants are students who work in the Residential Life office through the federal or college work study program. While these students do a lot of the administrative tasks that are typical of office work, we try to give each of them special projects to develop on their own. These include the publication of a regular newsletter, redesigning frequently used forms, and coordinating the communication of some information with other offices
