Goodyear Building
The Goodyear Building, a nineteenth-century shoe factory rumored to be the birthplace of the sneaker, provides studio spaces for art majors and faculty. Students who declare studio art as a major receive keys and round-the-clock access to the facility, which offers individual workspaces, a woodshop and sculpture studio, a large painting classroom, a photography studio, and a gallery space that is run by students and staff together, and allows for spontaneous exhibitions or installations of an experimental nature. The broad range of activities and interests that flourish in the building have established a strong sense of community among the faculty and the students who share the building.
