David has carried out his passion for sustainability and social justice in a variety of contexts. He spent the past summer on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana directing Unity Hoops, a basketball-centered youth empowerment program that he founded in 2011. During the spring he studied in Valparaíso, Chile, where he pursued his research interests in social movements and critical pedagogy while also playing basketball for a small university. David now enters his senior year ready to complete his political science major and sociology minor, and to fulfill extracurricular projects intended to create social change at Dickinson and in the greater Carlisle community. He is grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow with the wonderful students of this colloquium. To David, a sustainability leader is one who is guided by love - one with a willingness to go to any length to restore community.
