The following information is important if you:

  1. Are using the vault.com system for the first time
  2. Have used vault.com before but have questions about your password or how to find something in the system

What is vault.com?

Vault.com is a system that the Dickinson Career Center subscribes to which you can use to conduct extensive career-related research. On vault.com you will find approximately 2500 specific company profiles, as well as detailed industry overviews, career overviews, career advice articles, and downloadable career guides. There are also message boards which allow for the opportunity to observe, as well as partake in, discussions on specific companies, career and industry topics, and graduate school. Additionally, vault.com provides a tour of their site, which is great for new users.

How do I login to the vault.com system?

If you are a Dickinson alum:

  • You must have a dickinson e-mail address to obtain a password for Vault and to then log into the system. If you do not have a dickinson e-mail address, click here and one will be assigned to you.

If you have a vault.com password:

  • Enter it when prompted on the vault.com homepage.

If you have a vault.com password but it is not letting you into the system:

  • Chances are your password has expired (they are only good for 24 hours). Simply
    request a new password by clicking the “Get your password now!” link. A new password
    will be e-mailed to you within seconds.

If you do not have a vault.com password:

  • Click the “Get your password now!” link to have a new password e-mailed to you. It will be sent within seconds.

Why doesn’t my password work?

After your password has been assigned to you it will only be good for 24 hours. You can use the system as many times as you would like and simply need to request a new password if 24 hours have passed since the last time you used the system.

How do I use the vault.com system?

There are six main areas within the vault.com system, all accessible from the vault.com homepage: Downloadable Vault Guides, Occupational Profiles, Industry Overviews, Company Profiles, Message Boards (called the “Vault Electronic Water Cooler”), Career/Occupational Surveys, and Career Advice Articles. Additionally, there is a “tour” of the site for those who may be new to the system and not sure where to begin.

  • Downloadable Vault Guides
    There are over 90 career-related guides accessible through vault.com. These guides provide information on industries and specific companies, as well as general career advice. To access these guides, click on the blue tab on the left side of the vault.com homepage.
  • Occupational Profiles
    There are 53 occupational profiles. The information provided in each occupational profile includes a general overview for each occupation, a description of a typical career path and salary for someone in that occupation, “uppers” and “downers” about the occupation, and the types of personalities that are typically a good match for the occupation. To access the Occupational Profiles, click on one of the occupations listed on the left side of the vault.com homepage under the blue tab titled “Career Profiles.”

  • Industry Overviews
    There are profiles provided for each of 40 top industries. These profiles include general information about working in the industry, a brief history of the industry, as well as career path and salary information. To access the Industry Overviews, click on one of the industries listed on the left side of the vault.com homepage under the blue tab titled “Industry Research.”

  • Company Profiles
    There are over 2500+ company profiles listed in the vault.com web site. These profiles provide contact information, a brief overview, a company “snapshot,” which includes general information on the company, tips on getting hired, information on the company provided by current employees, an employment contact, the products or services that the company provides, and the various locations of the company. To access the company profiles, click on the blue tab titled “Company Research,” on the right side of the page. You can then search for companies alphabetically or by entering a specific company’s name and clicking “Go.”

  • Message Boards
    To access the message boards, click on the link to the Vault Electronic Water Cooler (a blue tab on the right side of the page). This will take you to a page where you can access message boards on various topics including specific companies, career information, industries, and graduate school).

  • Career/Occupational Surveys
    There are 2400 career and occupational surveys in the vault.com system. The information you will find in these surveys come directly from people working in the career or occupation you select from the list. Information provided includes job responsibilities, hiring and educational requirements, uppers and downers about the job, and lifestyle. To access one of the career or occupational surveys, click on the Vault Occupational Surveys link on the right side of the page, under the blue tab titled Career Surveys.

  • Career Advice Articles
    There are over 1100 articles available in the vault.com system. The articles give advice on everything from how to find a job to dealing with office romance. All of the articles are accessible at the bottom of the vault.com homepage.

  • Internship Database
    You can search for internship opportunities by location of industry and get detailed information on each of the internship programs in the system.
