Analytical Thinking: By studying different pieces of music, majors learn to analyze various styles and appreciate the inherent mathematical structure of music.

Analysis Skills: Students must distill large works into a
skeletal group of concentrated ideas.

Leadership/Performance: Through performing, musicians are able to develop leadership and self-confidence.

Creativity: Music majors learn to compose and perform music with originality

Teamwork: Music is the ultimate "team sport." Coordinating a performance with others in an ensemble or an orchestra helps music majors to develop strong teamwork skills.
