1. Announcements

Internship Transcript Notations
What: An official College recognition of your internship. It is a documentation of your internship on your college transcript. This replaces credited internships.
Who: Any student who has an internship and would like additional support and guidance in professional development and career exploration.  This will help you be more prepared for your next step (another internship, grad school, or a job). Policy Studies and IB&M majors will be required to have this notation by the time they graduate (unless you’ve already fulfilled your internship requirement).
When:
  The transcript notation will be available during fall and spring semesters, and during the summer.
Registration: Registration
for summer and fall is open. Summer registration deadline is June 9. Go to http://gateway.dickinson.edu. Once you log in to Gateway, you can access the internship registration form by clicking on the “Student Forms” tab.  The internship registration form will be listed as one of your available forms on the left-hand menu.

Medical Shadowing Rotation Program
What:  Program to give pre-health students opportunities to shadow physicians and health professionals in order to gain a better understanding of various health care fields.
When:
Fall 2008 semester (usually one morning a week for each week of the semester)
Who: Junior and senior pre-health
students with a commitment to pursuing a career in the field of medicine or healthcare. Exceptional sophomores may be considered. Minimum 3.0 GPA is required and you must have Tuesday mornings free to shadow (6 am-12 pm).
To apply: Submit the
following to Rachel Weaver in the Career Center by Friday, March 28 at 4:00 pm. Late applications will not be considered.
- A copy of your unofficial transcript
- One-page letter of intent, indicating why you would like to be part of this program and how it could
benefit you in the future (career goals, etc.).
- Your course schedule for the upcoming semester (if you’re not sure yet, just include your anticipated schedule)

SLAC Virtual Fair

Looking for a job: Don't miss out on the Coast to Coast Virtual Fair. More than 55 organizations are accepting applications for 95+ full-time job opportunities.

Deadline: Apply between March 24 and April 7 to employers interested in hiring top liberal arts graduates.

It’s Not (just) Your Grandfather’s Library: 21st Century Careers in Library and Information Sciences

Description: Learn about today's careers in library settings. Hear from a panel of young professionals about their decisions to pursue the field as well as what they do in their jobs and their pursuit of further education to support professional development. 3. On-campus job

Career Center – PAID Carlisle, PA

The Career Center is seeking a student to work approximately 5-6 hours a week (some weeks are more, some are less).  Student would be responsible for compiling internship listings into the weekly internship listserv that will be distributed via email to all students each week.  Student would also be responsible for updating internships in the DickinsonConnect database.  Finally, student may also be asked to assist with internship and Career Center events such as the Student Employment & Internship Fair.

This position requires timeliness and organizational skills.  We are looking for someone who has demonstrated responsibility and great attention to detail.

The Internship Assistant will learn to write in a professional manner and to emphasize relevant information to audiences.

The Internship Assistant position will begin in the fall of 2008.

Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance – Summer/Fall – Harrisburg, PA

PA Family Support Alliance is seeking an intern to assist with various projects in the organization. Developing materials on emerging trends in child welfare and family support and resources for affiliated organizations (family support programs across the state), writing articles and doing research would be some of the functions of the intern.

As the work might involve some translation into Spanish, this would be a good opportunity for student who speaks Spanish.

6. Art History/Conservation Work

National Gallery of Art – PAID – 2 years – Landover, MD

The conservation division of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, is offering an internship to further the development of the material collection. This internship is supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The intern will work to support the Art Materials Collection and Study Center’s mission to acquire and document the materials used by artists. The collection is composed of paints, varnishes, grounds, mediums, pigments, support, tools and trade literature produced by art materials manufacturers.

This is a post-graduate internship.
